Chicago is a great running town – especially in summer. We have tons of groups training for the Chicago Marathon and a bunch of awesome races. The Rock ‘n’ Roll series comes to Chicago every July for a 1/2 marathon, 5K and 10K. It’s an awesome course and always has great swag and kick-butt post race party. The only challenge is that on July 15 and 16 it can be pretty hot and steamy. The folks at the Competitor Group offered me a free entry and one for a lucky reader, so read on!
This is the 9th year for the RnR half in Chicago and the 20th year for RnR series. They’re having a lot of fun celebrating the 20 year milestone with added swag and bling if you run the “Remix Challenge.” Run the 5K on Saturday and one of the longer races on Sunday and get an extra medal! If you’re into the bling, it’s a no brainer.
I ran the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half in 2015 on a pretty balmy day. I got to meet Kristen and Finds’ fan (and fast runner) Jeff L. on race day. I ran a smart race and finished well despite the heat. My goal was to start and finish smiling. Here’s my recap. Spoiler alert – I did it!
If you’re not from Chicago, check out some suggestions for how to Rock ‘n’ Run Chicago in 48 hours. These suggestions are good for your non-running companions, too!
