Happy New Year! I have a confession to make. I’ve been holding out on you. This fall, I had the opportunity to test out a bunch of great healthy products. I decided to hold out and to do a “Healthier in ’17” series of posts and giveaways to power a healthier 2017 for my readers.
I love healthy snacks and local entrepreneurs. When Jordan from Chopbox asked if I wanted to check out his new snacks, I said “of course!” TeaSquares are “bite-sized snacks infused with the natural energy of tea leaves.” They’re handmade in Chicago. TeaSquares are all natural, gluten free snack bites that are infused with naturally occurring caffeine from all natural, organic tea.
TeaSquares come in three varieties. They are Madagascar Vanilla, Acai Blueberry and Citrus Green Tea Matcha. Each bite-size square is made with puffed millet, crunchy almonds and delicious dried fruit. The tea adds a small amount of caffeine. There is 32 mg of caffeine per bag (which is about 1/3 of a cup of coffee). These snacks will not give you the jitters like some energy snacks/drinks.
I shared some TeaSquares with Allison and Amanda following a 5 mile run. We all liked the Madagascar Vanilla best followed by the Acai Blueberry. Amanda said, “I like the ingredients which are healthy and relatively clean. We ate them after running. I had two pieces and I felt pretty sated. That’s a plus! TeaSquares are easy and portable post-workout snacks to leave in a car or gym bag.” I like the nutritional benefits of the healthy fats from the almonds and coconut oil, too. These are a great late afternoon snack. They kept me full until dinner and the small bit of caffeine didn’t hurt to get over the afternoon slump!
