It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the new Friday Five 2.0. This is a “free” week with no specific topic. I’m teaming up with myCharge to bring you “5 Ways to Decrease Holiday Travel Stress.” Holidays can be stressful. Travel can be stressful. Put the two together and things can get pretty hairy. Here are some tips to decrease holiday travel stress for a merrier holiday season.
1. Plan ahead – During the hectic holiday time, try to make arrangements well in advance. Once you do, confirm you plans and make sure you have all of your itineraries straight. Pack early and then go through to eliminate extra items you don’t need. Eat in advance and bring snacks in case of delays. I travel a lot, so I have travel toiletry bag and hair brush that stays in my carry on. Then, I don’t have to worry about forgetting something I need.
2. Leave extra time – Airports and train stations can be packed around the holidays. Allow extra time for traffic or congestion at the departure point of your trip. Also, I try not to make plans for close to my arrival time. A sure fire way for me to be really stressed is if I’m running late for my plans at my final destination. Maybe it’s Murphy’s Law, but I usually arrive on time and in a less harried way when I have no firm plans.
3. Pack light – When at all possible, pack carry on only. Checking bags can add extra time and hassle and these days extra costs, as well. I have a carry on that expands so I can bring more back (and am less worried about the time and luggage on the way home.)
4. Send gifts ahead – With the advent of online shopping, I try to send gifts ahead to my final destination. Most sites allow you to send gifts wrapped and without any clues as to what they are. You can even send to your hotel and have them hold them for you.
5. Stay fully charged – The last thing you want to see when you are traveling is a low cell phone battery. For parents traveling with kids, a tablet that does halfway through a flight can be a nightmare. myCharge can keep the stress level down with portable chargers that can recharge all of your devices.
The myCharge HUB series of portable chargers is the all-in-one charging solution with great performance and safety in one. You can charge up to three devices at once. There are three sizes of HUBs that can charge 2x, 4x or 6x. They all contain a lightning cable for iPhones, a micro USB cable and a USB port. Then to recharge, you plug it into any wall outlet.
If you find yourself stranded at an airport this holiday season with no way to charge your devices, visit a Hudson News or InMotion store and pick up a myCharge before you board your flight.
myCharge has offered one lucky reader a myCharge HUB Plus like the one I received to test. The HUB Plus has a $79.99 retail value. The HUB Plus charges phones, tablets and wearables and even comes pre-charged and ready to use. Want to enter to win? Please use the Rafflecopter below. Winner must be a US resident, 18 years of age or older and the offer is void where prohibited. The giveaway runs through December 8th. A winner will be selected and notified on December 9th.
