I’ve had people tell me that I have more things going on than any one else they know. Clearly, they’ve never met Sarah Kotek a/k/a Moonfish Mama. Sarah is a nurse anesthetist, a marathon runner, a mom of two girls and a wife. She is also the creative mind behind Moonfish.
Moonfish is a quarterly pop-up up store that collaborates with small businesses and local artists. Sarah curates a small collection of women’s clothing and accessories. Her style is “everyday luxury.” It’s comfortable, accessible and with some flare. She finds a collection of great pieces she loves and then holds a week long pop-up shop to spread the love. She helps women to put together great looks that are comfortable and fashionable.
Sarah and I met and she told me about Moonfish and what inspired it. She says that retail is “in her blood.” Her mother owned a retail store in South Chicago for many years. She loves the concept of a pop-up shop because she gets to source unique products and to work with up and coming artists and vendors while keeping her day job.
The fall pop-up has some awesome brands that are great for day and night. The brands will include: Bed|Stu, Nakamol, Echo Designs, bobi, Sylca Designs, Nakamol, Sol and Selene, LAmade, Rachel Marie Designs and many more.
Sarah brought me a pop-up item to check out – the All Star bag from Sol and Selene. The cute, quilted nylon backpack has adjustable back straps, convenient compartments and a removable nylon laundry bag. It is stylish and practical. It can go to on a trip, to the office and the gym. It’s perfect for me.
The next pop up is Monday, September 12th to Friday, September 16th. Appointments are from 9 AM to 9 PM at KSI Art Gallery, 3414 Main St. in Skokie, IL. This week long event is a collaboration with Artist Gabriel Smith. Walk ins are welcome and you can make an appointment HERE.
If you can make it, check out Moonfish’s fall pop up in September. Can’t make it? You can follow Moonfish on Instagram and Facebook to get style tips and learn about awesome new brands.
