It’s Friday, so I am linking up with Courtney at Eat, Pray, Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run for their weekly linkup. Each week they pick a theme and bloggers join in and link up. This year instead of specific themes, they are letting us be creative with broad themes for each week of the month. This is the a “food” themed week. In the spirit of full disclosure, I did “food” last week because April had five Fridays and I skipped the extra “free” week. Oops. The good news is that I still have tons of food “finds” from Expo West and other shenanigans to tell you about.
I’ve enjoyed trying these five finds and I recommend you check them out, too. That’s about all they have in common, so please bear with me. It’s a bit of a hodge podge of items, but I am glad I found them all!
1. Crockett Creek Beef Jerky – The folks at Crockett Creek offered to send me some of their home style jerky. I am a big jerky fan and their “Legendary Barbeque” flavor hit the spot. I took this along with me on some work travels and this was the perfect snack sized bag to hold me over between meals. The texture is good and the BBQ was a great mixture of sweet and savory. They make a variety of beef jerky flavors and other meats including venison, elk and buffalo. You can find them on the web and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
2. Temple Protein Bars – You may remember that I gave the guys from Temple Protein Bars a hard time at Expo West. Why? They claim to have “The Cleanest Bar. Period.” They are gluten free, high protein, high fiber, non-GMO, soy free and all natural. Great, right? Yes, but, the flavors and packaging reminded me of those other guys [Hint: name rhymes with Guest.] Those are “all natural” but are filled with sweetener substitutes. I got some samples and when Amanda, Kristin and I tucked into the Dark Chocolate Cherry, we were sold. I emailed them and they sent me boxes of six of the ten available flavors. I am giving away a bunch, so stay tuned on the blog, Facebook and Instagram. They are primarily in Canada so far, but you can find them on the web, and soon at Amazon, and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
3. Toosum Bars – I met the folks from Toosum at Expo West, too. They make delicious, nutritious 100 calorie oatmeal based superfood bars. These are great for kids and grown ups, too. The bars are all natural, gluten free, non-GMO, low in sugar and filled with superfoods like chia, coconut, acai berries and blueberries. These are super tasty with breakfast or as a snack. I like them pre-run, too. I will have a giveaway soon. In the mean time, you can find them on the web and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
4. M&M Honey Nut, Chili Nut and Coffee Nut – If you ever wondered if it was always healthy over here… well. Nope. I saw the M&M Flavor Vote Sweepstakes on Instagram. Then, like magic these babies showed up at my Walgreens. I tried all three – of course! I had a hard time choosing. It came down to Chili Nut and Coffee Nut. In the end, I voted for Chili Nut. It has a nice subtle chili flavor kick. I dug it! The Coffee Nut is a keeper, too. I wonder what America will pick. You can vote through June 17th HERE. Not my healthiest “find” but a fun treat and taste test!
5. Uncle Dougie’s Hand Crafted Sauces, Rubs and Mixes – At Expo West, I mentioned to a PR person that I was from Chicago and he told me to check out Uncle Dougie’s. Uncle Dougie’s makes 100% natural, non-GMO, gluten free BBQ sauces, hot sauces, rubs and delicious Bloody Mary mixes. They sent me one of EVERYTHING. I’ve shared these with a bunch of friends and we plan to test out the Bloody Mary mix this weekend. Stay tuned for a full review. In the mean time, you can find Uncle Dougie’s on the web and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
It’s a good thing I had an “extra” food week. There are so many fun food finds out there. I can’t wait to try them all!
Which of these sounds best to you? Have you found any new products I should be on the look out for? Please tell me about them in the comments!
Have a great weekend, all!
PS. Don’t miss my great giveaways!
Please note: I was given some of these products at no cost in exchange for an honest review. I was not otherwise compensated for this post. All opinions are my own.
