If you checked out my LA Marathon recap and SLS3 review, you will see that despite experience I had an issue. I had some bad chafing around my waist from the SLS3 belt sliding around in the heat. I have tried a bunch of anti-chafing products, and even used one that day, but just not on that spot. After this recent experience, I could not say “yes” fast enough when I had the opportunity to try 2Toms Sport Shield again. I have used it in the past and knew it was a really good product.
2Toms® SportShield provides protection from blisters, chafing, saddle soreness and more. They say that “SportShield® performs with you under the most grueling conditions and will not rub off. It even works under wetsuits!” SportShield is a silicone-based anti-chafe product that is non-toxic, non-greasy and does not stain. It is waterproof and sweat proof and lasts for up to 24 hours with one application. It contains no animal products.
The nice folks at Medi-Dyne sent me a SportShield liquid roll-on and a pack of 10 towelettes. Both are easy to use to apply an invisible coating to the skin. It can be applied any part of the body where skin has friction with clothing and equipment pressure points that may cause chafing or a blister.
I travel a lot for races and often tag team weekend races with other trips. I like to take carry on bags only when possible, so I love the towelettes. At first, I did not realize these were towelettes, I thought they were gel packs. Even better! The towelettes are clean and neat and not at all messy like a gel pack would be. I went to St. Louis, NJ and then to NYC for the NYC Half last weekend. I brought a few single serve packs for me and Melissa to try before the race (because we were staying together).
The weather for the half was pretty chilly, but I find that I heat up and sweat no matter what. I carried my phone and hotel key in a Nathan belt. I wore a long sports bra top with a long sleeve shirt over it. I wore shorts and long compression socks. I used the SportShield towelette all around my sports bra top, under my arms, around my waist where the belt would go and on my hip where I got chafed last time. Melissa used hers, as well, in her usual chafing spots.
We both had a great run and when we came back in, we checked for marks and chafing. We had none where we used the SportShield! I had none at all. Whoo hoo! I have used the roll-on before, but I really love the portability and cleanliness of the towelettes. I am adding these to my running kit from now on.
As I mentioned, I got a roll-on and the towelettes to try. I have already tried the roll-on in the past, so I am going to give it away to one lucky reader. Please use the Rafflecopter below to enter. The winner must be a US resident, 18 years of age or older and the offer is void where prohibited. The giveaway runs through 3/31. A winner will be selected and notified on 4/1.
