ChopBox is a Chicago based company that specializes in family friendly dinner kits. They can help you get off to a health start with interesting recipes, whole foods and a full serving of vegetables on every plate. They deliver the ingredients already measured and ready to make to your door!
ChopBox was founded around the ideals of bringing healthy dinner and conversation back to the family. ChopBox plans weekly meals, buys all the fresh ingredients, chops and portions them, then delivers the recipes directly to your door to cook at home. They even include conversation starters and games for families and couples in collaboration with TheFamilyDinnerProject.org
Each week, ChopBox has a new menu. Each meal comes as one dinner for 1 to 6 people at $10 per person plus delivery. You can also order a subscription of 2 or 3 dinners per week to get free delivery. They even make custom plans based upon your/your family’s dietary needs, as well. They have four new recipes each week and if you order by Sunday, you can get delivery on Tuesday.
They offered me a meal for four to try out. I ordered the Herb Roasted Salmon with Lemon Zested Fingerling Potatoes. Jordan, ChopBox’s founder hand delivered it himself. What a cool surprise! I don’t think everyone gets that personal service, but some lucky Chicago folks must. Keep an eye out!
The refrigerated bag had all of the ingredients and a colorful menu card with the recipe. The Husband was away this weekend, so I cooked half of the salmon and all of the sides and ate it for a few days! The salmon was frozen and the meal came with four huge pieces.
The recipe recommended to roast the potatoes first and then the salmon. I chopped and put the potatoes in the oven and then whipped up the herbs in my food processor. I then coated the salmon and roasted it. The cooking and preparation took less than an hour including clean up. The kit also came with greens and a nice balsamic vinaigrette, too.
The meal was delicious and the salmon was even better the second day! This is a terrific service for busy couples and families. I think it would be great for small dinner parties like my book club (note to self). The food was very fresh, the recipe was simple to follow and the end product was delicious.
