I’ve been trying to eat “real food” as much as possible. With all of my travels, I am always looking for wholesome snacks and bars to take on the go. My friends at The Feed (Get $5 off on your first purchase with this link) featured Ona Cookies by WB Kitchen. They are gluten free, grain free, dairy and soy free and are 8 of 10 flavors of cookies and bars are Paleo certified (the others are Paleo-friendly). I don’t “do” Paleo, but I am happy to benefit from the Paleo standards in products I try.
I tried the Maple Pecan Ona Cookies and a Peanut Ginger Ona Bar from The Feed. Both were delicious so I ordered a sampler (one of each cookie and bar) and emailed Chris at WB Kitchen to see if he wanted to be featured on the blog. Great news! He said yes and he offered a mixed box of cookies AND a mixed box of bars to one lucky reader. So read on and learn more about these tasty products and cool Colorado company and enter to win!
What is Ona? They say, “Ona, meaning grace, serves as a symbol for the restoration of harmony and balance between humanity and nature. From [their] own desire to find balance and nourishment in [their] lives WB Kitchen was inspired. Food is one of our most basic needs and your daily food choices are one of the most effective ways to impact the planet.”
Like many artisan foods vendors, WB Kitchen has a pretty awesome philosophy. They say,
“Choosing to nourish our bodies with real and harmonious foods brings us more in balance with our community and our planet. Eating the foods Mother Nature intended, allows you to be and feel healthier, happier and more vibrant. This is how we choose foods for our own bodies and wish only the same for YOU!

WB Kitchens makes Paleo approved cookies and bars. The bars come in four flavors: Chocolate, Peanut Ginger, Honey Nut and Mocha Java. They are Paleo Certified, GAPS and SCD friendly and are sweetened only with Organic, Fair Trade, Non-GMO honey. My fave thing about ONA is that you can read and easily understand each and every ingredient on the label! The cookies come in six flavors: Cinnamon Raisin, Maple Pecan, Peanut Butter, Brownie, Maple Pecan, Coconut Shortbread and Chocolate Chip. The cookies are “Paleo-friendly” (some flavors are Paleo Certified) and are sweetened only with honey.
The bars are great with coffee and I have been eating them as a mid-morning snack! They can also be a dessert option because of the honey sweetness. My fave is the Peanut Ginger. You can see all of the real food in the bar which is always a plus. The Peanut Ginger has the sweetness of the honey and the tang of the ginger. The Chocolate and Honey Nut satisfied my sweet tooth. These are also a great pick me up with tea in the afternoon. The Mocha Java has coffee and cocoa nibs which also offset the honey well. You have to like a pretty strong coffee flavor to enjoy it which I do!
I enlisted a few of the gals to help me test all of the cookies post a healthy dinner. Well, I accidentally forgot the Chocolate Chip so I tested those myself! The cookies are made with an almond flour base and only ingredients you can pronounce. I already knew I liked the Maple Pecan. The cookies are not too sweet. In fact, the bars are actually sweeter to my taste buds. They have a nice soft texture and are very shareable.
The big winners for us were the Coconut Shortbread and the Peanut Butter. Everyone found the Maple Pecan to be tasty, too. The Cinnamon Raisin got eaten but was not a huge dessert favorite. We agreed that that one could be a good morning, energy snack as it was not very sweet. The only one that was not a huge hit was Brownie. I think it is because it is made with unsweetened cocoa powder and cocoa nibs. It is brownie colored but not sweet like a brownie. Oh, and I tried the Chocolate Chip last. I enjoyed it. It also has cocoa nibs so it is not your milk chocolate chip cookie flavored cookie. I would definitely get the Chocolate Chip again to have on hand for a little something sweet. The best thing about these cookies for me is that they satisfy my sweet craving but don’t leave me wanting to eat every sweet in the house. That is a BIG win!
