Before the holidays, I was approached by Naked Nutrition to see if I would like to try their protein powders. Their slogan is “Nutrition with nothing to hide” which I love! They “strip away all of the marketing and gimmicks that many companies use today” and strive to sell products with only the purest ingredients. All of the protein powders are organic and contain only one ingredient! There are no artificial ingredients, no gluten and no soy. They are cold processed and the processing is acid and bleach free. What better way to start off clean eating after the holidays with one ingredient, all natural protein for your healthy meals?
They sent me a sampler of their proteins that included: Naked Whey, Naked Rice, Naked Casein, Naked Goat and Naked Pea. Great news! They sent a second sampler for one lucky reader, so read on! The sampler contains one serving of each type of protein. I was most intrigued by the Naked Goat as I have never tried whey protein from goat milk. I do not drink dairy milk and occasionally use whey protein so I was excited to see if this would be a good fit for me. The Naked Goat has 25 g of protein, 0 g of sugar and only 4 g of carbs. That is pretty awesome.
I decided on a smoothie with Naked Goat, Mighty Nut Powdered Chocolate Peanut Butter, Almond Milk and a frozen banana. I used a few ounces of almond milk, the packet of Naked Goat, 2 TBS of Mighty Nut and the frozen banana. I mixed it up in my blender. (Naked makes powdered PB, too, but I did not have any.)
My smoothie was delicious! I was wondering if it would have the slightly sour taste that I associate with goat milk. It did not. The powder was smooth and the drink was very creamy. It was packed with nutrition and low added sugar. This is going to be a go-to breakfast or post-workout smoothie for me. I felt really full and satisfied after drinking it. I am looking forward to trying all of the varieties and other products from Naked Nutrition. They have a ton of recipes and info on their blog, too!
