I love healthy finds and companies with a sense of humor. Chomps Snack Sticks fits the bill. Chomps 100% Grass Fed Beef Snack Sticks are gluten free and contain no hormones, nitrates & nitrites, MSG or synthetics. One of their slogans is “All bull. No Sh*t!” I like that Chomps contain only ingredients that I can “actually pronounce.” The founder loved Slim Jims and took out all of the “added garbage.”
Chomps’ sticks have 9g of protein which is more than most jerky sticks. They’re also made with no added sugars and no gluten, making them perfect paleo snacks. They use celery juice to keep the jerky fresh, so they add no synthetic preservatives. They also have lower salt than other jerky sticks. I don’t follow a paleo diet but Chomps are Whole 30 and paleo approved for those of you who do.
I wanted to try Chomps and saw they have ties to Chicago so I tweeted to see where to buy them. They don’t have local retailers in Chicago but they offered to send me some to try. Yes, please! They sent me 3 of each of the Original flavor and the Hoppin’ Jalapeno flavor.
The Husband and I tried both flavors. We are both fans. They are very tasty and not at all greasy. They have a good flavor and the jalapeno has a nice kick without setting your mouth on fire. I like the consistency. It is not too soft or too tough like some meat snacks can be. My fave is the Hoppin’ Jalapeno and The Husband likes Original. They are very filling for 100 calories. They are great for traveling and are also good for athletes. Paleo folks and Crossfitters love them – see reviews. And they are perfect for road warrior marathoners like me.
