Hello, my name is Erica and I am addicted to nut butter AND crowdfunding projects. Now that I have come clean, I will share my new found love Bogg’s Trail Butter. Then, I will share some with two lucky readers.
In 2014, I saw a Crowd Supply crowdfunding project to make Bogg’s Trail Butter Squeeze Packs. Trail Butter is a delicious, all-natural nut butter, “designed to provide lasting energy and nutrition to outdoor enthusiasts.” The cool thing about it is that it is actually more like trail mix butter. It contains a “triple nut blend” of almonds, peanuts and hazelnuts, dried fruit, seeds, nectar, honey and coconut oil. They say, (and I agree) “For those in search of a healthy, energy-rich, unprocessed food made only from natural foods, Bogg’s Trail Butter is the answer.”
Bogg’s Trail Butter was created by two brothers after one spent a year traveling the globe. He fueled himself with nutritious whole food trail mix and peanut butter. To save room, he wound up mixing up these ingredients and eventually decided to blend them all together. Trail Butter was born. The brothers are very active and love cycling and pretty much any active they can possibly do. Trail butter is perfect for cycling, hiking and even endurance running. You can see why the individual squeeze packs make total sense and why they decided to do the Crowd Supply project.
Trail Butter is a quick, convenient, nutritious snack that can be eaten alone or on crackers, bread, bagels and fruit. Trail Butter comes in three flavors: Ozark Original, Mountain Maple and Expedition Espresso. All three flavors are gluten free and two of the three are dairy free. Ozark Original contains milk chocolate which may contain dairy. Bogg’s Trail Butter is all natural and is sweetened with clover honey and a touch of vanilla. It comes in three sizes: new single serve squeeze packs, a convenient 8oz. wide-mouth recyclable plastic tub and a 4.5 oz spouted flexible pouch.
I got a bunch of perks and shared with my friends. My fave is the Ozark Original with the Mountain Maple as a close second. Meryl tried it on a trail run/hike in Whistler and sent an illustrated comment. She said, “Here I am happily eating Trail Butter on 14 mile hike/trail run on Whistler Mountain. Yum. This stuff is delish. I had regular and maple. Will use again for sure.” Amanda said, “I buy my peanut butter based on a two ingredient list: peanuts and salt. So I wasn’t sure about the non-nut “stuff” in this one. That said, the ingredient list is relatively clean and a serving has only 5g of sugar, so I gave it a try. It was good! I ate it on whole wheat toast before a run. It was tasty and satisfying. It definitely tasted like the trail mix I make for hiking and I’m going to upgrade my trail mix recipe to include all of these ingredients! I can see bringing the smaller packets to races for a post-race refuel along with a banana.” Jeff said he may or may not have eaten a maple tub with a spoon – he was doing Ironman training. Susie added hers to fro yo and even blogged about it!
As you can see the Trail Butter is a big hit! Making the squeeze packs took a while so they sent extra! Want to share in my perks? I will send two lucky readers one size in each flavor. Please use the Rafflecopter below to enter. Winner must be a US resident, 18 or over and offer is void where prohibited. The contest runs through 10/22. Winners will be selected and notified on 10/23.
In the mean time, you can shop online for Bogg’s Trail Butter or find it at REI and some retail locations. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
