A few years ago, I saw an ad in Women’s Health for a new run series called Run 10 Feed 10. The aim was simple – to raise money to feed millions of Americans who are hungry. For each runner who signed up to run 10K, ten meals would be provided to hungry Americans in the runner’s community. This is an easy way to make a difference to a family (or several) in your community.
I remember thinking what a simple, yet inspired, idea this was. I did the fun run the first year in Chicago and had a blast at the 2013 and 2014 races. Women’s Health offered me an entry this year to spread the word and I said “sure, but I already signed up!” They offered a “Fit Kit” for one of my readers so read on and enter to win! I thought I might miss the race with other plans this year, but I decided to stay in Chicago, so I will be there again this year.
Like me, you can join Women’s Health Magazine, The FEED Foundation and thousands of amazing runners in the fight against hunger. The concept is simple: Run a 10K and you will provide 10 meals for those that are hungry in your local and surrounding communities. Chicago will host the Run 10 FEED 10 timed race on October 17, 2015 at 8:00 AM. This scenic 10K has great pre and post race activities and TONS of sponsors with great freebies and giveaways. You can learn more and sign up HERE. Get $5 off with the code R10F10PR.
Since the events started in 2012, RUN 10 FEED 10 has raised enough money to provide 3.75 million meals to Americans in need. Now, going into the fourth year, your help is needed once again to reach the goal of providing 5 million meals. Right now, 49 million Americans are going hungry—they don’t know when they will get their next meal. It’s something we can do something about. Together, we can make a huge impact in a very simple way. All you have to do is RUN!
If you do not live in one of the Women’s Health host cities, or if you missed your fun run, you can still participate. Just register on Run10Feed10 ($28) and use the RUN10 FEED10 training app, created by WalkJogRun, to plot your own course and run your own 10K anytime. You get a limited edition FEED bag and 10 meals will be donated to charity.
No interest in running? You can still make a difference. You can donate via Crowdrise.
Women’s Health and FEED sent a “Fit Kit” for one of my lucky readers. The Fit Kit comes in a FEED Run 10 Feed 10 tote and contains: 2 Women’s Health mags, Yogolosophy by Mindy Ingber, A SportMixer and GoStak from Blender Bottle, Out of Africa Shea Butter Cream, Batiste Dry Shampoo, Geri G Cheek and Eye Duo, Straight from Eden Repairing Oil, a Goody Head Band, Stoneridge Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries, PaperChef Parchment Envelopes and a $500 gift certificate for the 5 Star Golden Door Spa in Escondido, California (good for discount on a one week stay – you may need to win more than this giveaway to afford it! ;)) Retail value not including the spa certificate is about $150!
Want to win? Use the Rafflecopter below. Giveaway runs through October 15th. A winner will be selected and notified on October 16th. Winner must be a US resident (or have a US postal intermediary), 18 years of age or older and is void where prohibited.
Let me know if you are running in Chicago and I will be on the look out for you on October 17th!
Please note: I was offered a free entry to Run10Feed10 by Women’s Health and Fit Kit for the giveaway to spread the word. All of my opinions are my own. This is a race I support and registered for already.
