I travel a lot and try to get my fruits and veggies, and eat real food, on the go. I have also had one too many squashed bananas! My problem was solved when I found Barnana. Barnana is an all natural, raw (dehydrated), organic, Non-GMO, gluten free, vegan “super potassium snack.” The original flavor has exactly one ingredient: organic bananas. They taste delicious and are super portable.
Barnana was (like many good things) an accidental discovery by a man in Brazil. The man, Joao Suplicy, accidentally created a dehydrator out of a skylight and then intentionally began making dehydrated bananas for his family. His son Caue loved the bananas and used them to fuel his healthy lifestyle and professional triathlete career. When he retired, he started Barnana.
I tried Barnana last year when I won some in a giveaway. At that time, they had two flavors – Original and Organic Chocolate. When I saw that they added Peanut Butter and Organic Coconut to the line up, I wrote to ask them if they’d like me to do a review. They said “Yes!” I have some extras from the review and from The Feed, so I am going to offer one lucky winner one of each flavor.
I like all of the flavors and use them slightly differently:
- The Original and Organic Coconut are perfect for me when I am on the go. I eat them plain or add them into oatmeal or with nuts or other fruit. These are great any time. The bites are chewy, but not stuck in your teeth chewy. They are bite sized and make no mess. They are naturally sweet and delicious.
- The Chocolate and Peanut Butter are delicious treats that I typically have for dessert. It can be a bit too easy for me to overeat these (like the whole bag!) so I portion them out. These are also small, bite sized pieces (~6 per serving). These are vegetarian, gluten free, Non-GMO and contain no additives, no preservatives. They are “sweetened by nature.” The chocolate is organic dark chocolate with 54% cocoa. The peanut butter is organic.
The Feed says, “It’s the health-conscious, earth-conscious snack you can feel good about.” I agree! The Original and Coconut can also be eaten during exercise. I imagine that it would be easier to use these on the bike (or on a hike) than running.
You don’t have to take my word for it, I am giving some away to one lucky reader. Please use the Rafflecopter below to enter. Winner must be a US Resident (or have a US postal intermediary), be 18 years of age or over and the offer is void where prohibited. The giveaway runs through Thursday, May 7th. A winner will be selected and notified on Friday, May 8th.
In the meantime, you can get Barnana on the website or at Abe’s Market or The Feed. You can keep up with Barnana on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
PS. Don’t forget my other great giveaways.
