OK. I feel like this could be an “as seen on TV” item, but hear me out. I was offered the opportunity to try a “cool pillow” and it sounded too good to pass up. I was sent a PolarGel Pillow (which is also called a “Cooling Pillow Mat”) at no cost in exchange for an honest review. It turns out that this not an actual pillow, it is a mat that you can put on your pillow, or in your pillowcase, which a cooling gel in it. It is a dry solution and does not require water or refrigeration.
I am not the world’s best sleeper (an understatement) and I am desperate to find the perfect pillow. The one I use at home is practically in shreds. I’ve had it since college. I’ve tried a ton of “replacements,” but none work for me. So, I thought that I might be able to doctor my ailing pillow with a cooling mat.
The mat spans the whole length of your pillow. You can place it on top of or inside your pillow case. I put it inside so that I would not have the cold right on my face. It is made with “advanced, non toxic” materials and is cool and soft to the touch. They say that “the mat’s temperature is lower than room temperature.” It seems that it cools with pressure/touch. If you want it to be cooler, you can put it in the refrigerator or freezer for a few hours before you use it.
OK. I admit, I have no idea how this works, but I love it! I have trouble finding a pillow with the right firmness and was not sure I would like the cool pillow mat on my pillow. I found the mat to be comfortable and the coolness was refreshing to me. I tend to toss and turn. When I move around with this, the new spots are nice and cool which is very refreshing. It would be great if you have hot flashes or just “run hot.” I think I will love this in the summer as our room can get warm. The Husband liked the cooling but he found that he would unconsciously switch pillows during the night – which is good for me so we don’t have to fight over this one. That said, it may not be a must have for everyone.
The PolarGel Pillow also comes with a free cooling bandana that cools when wet (which I will try for running) and a sleep aid e-book. The mat has a lifetime replacement guarantee and a 30 day money back guarantee. You can check these out on Amazon where they are now 34% off at $32.89. It seems like a good deal for a better night’s sleep!
