Don’t miss my guest post on healthy travel snacks at Undiscovered Kitchen!
You know I love subscription boxes AND health snacks. I got a launch notice for Fit Snack, a curated monthly box filled with “exclusive, health focused snack options.” The box also includes inspirational tips, exercises and “exclusive bonus items.” I ordered the inaugural box! (Of course I did.)
Like me, the founder of Fit Snack is a traveler and fitness buff and “found a void in the fitness world” – healthy snacks on the go. Fit Snack arrived with the mission to save subscribers the time and effort involved in the search for delicious and nutritious foods. They search for snacks with “nutrient dense energy.” The focus is on snacks with high protein, complex carbs, low sugar, GMO free, paleo, gluten free, clean eating, sustainable, organic and raw.
The first box did not disappoint! It came with the following items:
- NoGii Protein Powder in two flavors. These gluten free whey and quinoa protein powders and includes 7 grams of fiber, probiotics and no artificial sweeteners, flavors or added colors. I love NoGii bars so I am excited to try these protein powders.
- The Protein Bakery brownies and cookies. These treats contain up to five times more protein than other baked treats and they are also high in fiber. I’ve had these before and they are tasty and nice for an occasional treat.
- Kay’s Natural Cookie Bites have 12 g of protein and high fiber and are gluten free. They also have a low glycemic index. Again, a good treat for the road with the plus of extra protein.
- Simply Seven Quinoa Chips and Lentil Chips are non-GMO, gluten free and kosher and come in a ton of delicious flavors. These are super light and tasty. These were not new to me, but I like them.
- Oven Baked Organics Pancake Mix is made from organic whole grains and legumes, organic Dutch cocoa powder, organic evaporated cane juice, organic spices, unrefined sea salt and aluminum free baking powder. It contains no additives, no preservatives, no trans fats and no unpronounceable ingredients.
- Somersault Snacks are whole grain snack bites with lots of fiber, iron and calcium. We first tried these on a girl’s trip in Sausalito. Delish!
- Gocopod is a small packet of portable coconut oil! Super convenient.
- FitSnack’s own snacks: Raw Almond and Pumpkin Seed Mix and Veggie Chips. The almond and pumpkin seeds were perfect for traveling and I love veggie chips!
I also got box #2! I loved the twofers:
- (2) Ips Egg White Chips in Sea Salt and Black Pepper – these light tasty chips are made with egg whites and non-GMO corn. They are gluten free and each serving has 6 grams of protein. Great for a salty fix!
- (2) Boulder Granola packs – these packs are perfect to add to oatmeal or yogurt or just to eat on the go!
- (2) Funny Face’s Choo Choo Cherry Cranberries – great for kid’s snack or lunch boxes. I tried them and they are ok for grown ups, too.
- (2) Rich Nature Dark Chocolate Superfruit mixes – I want to eat my body weight in this delicious snack. It is 100% natural, gluten free, high in fiber and Vitamin A and made in the USA. It is amazing!
- (2) Wyoming Gourmet Beef sticks – I have not tried these yet but they are all natural, have no MSG and are gluten free. The beef has no hormones or antibiotics. Yay!
- (2) Sunbutter sample packs
- Level Life Bar, Caramel Chocolate Peanut – these bars are gluten free and have a low glycemic index. I have not tried it yet but it looks tasty!
- Lenny & Larry’s The Complete Cookie, Double Chocolate – these have no dairy or eggs. I have not tried this flavor but the extra protein in the cookies makes them a great travel treat.
- Compete Energy Bites – unlike all of the other items in both boxes, these have no redeeming nutritional qualities. I wrote to FitSnack and told them so and then I chucked them. These are energy chews with caffeine. Can’t win them all!
Fit Snack offers several different subscription plans including 1-month, 3-month, 6-month, and annual subscription options. Monthly box prices start at $15.00 (+ $5 S/H) and provide double that value within each box. If you order 6 months or a year, you get extra goodies each month. You can also gift a membership. Both boxes so far had more than the $20 value and I enjoyed/plan to enjoy almost every item!
I purchased a six month membership to get extra treats. I started working with Taste Guru on a new review and they offered me a Fit Snack box to try, too. Fit Box is in the Taste Guru family. Since I already order Fit Snack, I asked if I could give it to one of my readers and they said yes! They also said that my readers will get a special Fit Snack string bag if they order through this link.
