The first time I saw INBars, I thought they were “not for me.” I read that they were for people with Diabetes or weight management goals and I passed them by. I had a preconceived notion of what that would taste like — and I imagined it would not be good. Boy, was I wrong about that! I saw INBars reviewed by another blogger and decided to try one out from my local market. I liked it so much that I emailed and INBar sent me one of every flavor to try for this review. They have also offered to send two readers each a 12 pack sampler box (2 of each flavor).
INBar was developed as a healthy and delicious snack to “help satisfy your hunger in a sensible manner.” INBar was created by physicians to help people better manage their weight by minimizing blood sugar spikes and controlling hunger with “real, organic ingredients.” INBars are allergen-free and contain no wheat, soy, eggs, corn, dairy or nuts. The bars have no sugar alcohols, artificial sweeteners or preservatives. You can check out how your favorites stack up against INBars in this chart. The bars contain 100% real food ingredients. They have 11 grams of rice protein, 10 grams of fiber from peas and less that 200 calories per bar. The base ingredient is sunflower seed butter.
INBars come in 6 flavors: Chocolate Butter Crunch, Cinnamon Swirl, Chocolate Mint, Strawberry Banana, Chocolate Fudge, and Cherry Chocolate. The base for all of the bars is sunflower seed butter so they all have at least a little taste of sunflower seeds.
- I tried Cinnamon Swirl first was pleasantly surprised with the texture, taste and the fact that there was no after taste. I ate half of the bar before a quick workout and it was perfect to tide me over. The bar contains cinnamon concentrate which made it very flavorful. It reminded me of something with cinnamon sugar but no extra sugar was needed to make it taste good.
- I tried Chocolate Cherry, Chocolate Butter Crunch and Chocolate Mint as the next few while I was traveling. They were the perfect thing to tide me over between meals or on flights. They all were nice and chocolatey (they contain an organic chocolate liquor).
- The Chocolate Cherry contains pieces of dried cherries which I like a lot.
- I loved the Chocolate Butter Crunch. I can’t really describe the flavor but one reviewer said it is “better than a peanut butter cup.” This is a great choice for people who have someone with a peanut allergy in the house and is missing the pb cup flavors.
- The Chocolate Mint is good, but I think it was my least favorite of the six.
- I tried Strawberry Banana toward the end, because I don’t usually care for fruity flavored bars. This one was delicious. I savored it with coffee at a meeting instead of eating muffins/croissants that were being served. I was the only one still full at lunch.
- Last, I tried the Chocolate Fudge and it was delish, too. It was similar to the other chocolate flavors – rich and satisfying.
It is hard to pick a favorite. If I have to pick one, the surprise winner for me is Strawberry Banana. The thing that all of these bars have in common is that they are very satisfying, tasty and keep you full. I am definitely adding these to my healthy travel snacks!
