Winter is here and I was offered the opportunity to check out some great base layer pieces from Watson’s. Watson’s makes great value, performance base layers in technical fabric, poly/cotton, bamboo, microfleece and now merino. They have pieces for men, women, girls and boys. I received a Double Layer (poly/cotton) set of top and bottom in gray (with nice pink trim!)
Watson’s is from Canada so I figured they would know their stuff. Part of the Chateau Lingerie family, Watson’s focuses on having a “superior quality & value ratio” They have been around for over 50 years! They make products to reflect their company values: comfortable, original, stylish, and innovative. Right up my alley!
I tried on the top and bottom and they are super soft and are nice and warm. They are fitted but not too tight. The long underwear bottoms fit comfortably under jeans or ski pants for winter, outdoor activity. I also wore them around the house for lounge wear. Very comfortable. The top fits me perfectly. A warning for taller folks, you may need to size up. I tried Small/Petite in both. The top falls right at my waist (the pink showing at the bottom is my long sports tank top) and the pants were not too long for me. I am (almost) 5′ 4″ and evenly proportioned. If you are tall and/or long-waisted, size up.
The double layer is their option for use as a “heavy duty” thermal base layer. Made from two layers, it is designed to take advantage of your natural body heat. These pieces “trap” warm air between the layers, to keep warm in very cold conditions. I decided to wear the top as an outside layer in 22 degree (feels like 12), windy weather for our Turkey Day 8K. It was perfect. Even in the very windy spots (with only a long sports tank underneath), I was not too hot or too cold. As you can see in the photo, I did get a “bit” sweaty, but the double layer did a great job of keeping the moisture away from my skin. I like that the top is form fitting but the soft material does not create any big bulges. Always a plus!
I am very impressed with the quality and fit of these pieces and each piece retails at Watson’s for only $25.00 each. The bamboo pieces look amazing and are the same price point. The merino pieces are a slightly higher price point, but seem more affordable than some of the competitors.
I am hoping that I won’t need these pieces all of the time in the winter here in Chicago, but I am glad that I have them! You can check out Watson’s online and on Facebook and Twitter. You might ask for some of these on your holiday wishlist!

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received the Ladies Winterwear Double Layer (top and bottom) for free from Watson’s as coordinated by Deep Creek Public Relations in consideration for review publication. I was not compensated for this review. All opinions are my own.
