I am a huge fan of Picky Bars. I love the healthy, delicious bars and the quirky style of the marketing. I am pretty much in awe the owners. Last year, I joined their member’s only club. Of course, it was the best deal ~$2 a bar. And, now I have a surplus to share with a few lucky readers.
Picky Bars were created by runners for runners. Lauren Fleshman and Stephanie Rothstein, who has Celiac Disease, wanted a great energy bar that is gluten free for their training. These bars were created to be nutritional powerhouses and are backed by “solid science.” They are the real deal – the bars and the people. [Since the first time I shared Picky Bars in 2013, I met Lauren Fleshman (post) and blogged about Stephanie Rothstein (post). I am even more impressed with them and Picky Bar, now!]
The bars are compact and have 200 calories or less each. They have all natural ingredients and follow a 4:1 ratio of carbohydrate to protein that is “ideal for recovery and maximizes absorption of nutrients.” They are gluten, dairy and soy free and have balanced macro-nutrients (25% fat, 60% carbohydrate, 15% protein) for hunger control and “happy digestion.” They are also non-GMO and all natural.
Even better than all of that, they are delicious! Picky Bars now come in 6 flavors:
- My fave is Smooth Caffeinator which is a vegan, hazelnut and mocha bar. It is SO tasty and addictive!
- Lauren’s Mega Nuts is peanut butter and chocolate! Hello – time tested combo there!
- Need for Seed has sunflower butter base and no nuts – however they are produced in a facility with nuts.
- All in Almond has an almond butter base with chocolate chips and is vegan and delish.
- Blueberry Boomdizzle has an almond butter base and fresh blueberries. It is “smooth and sweet like a bakery treat without the guilt.” (vegan)
- Cookie Doughpness is an oatmeal raisin flavored “cookie dough” bar. Lauren told us an hilarious story about the complaints she was getting because it was not chocolate chip as people expected when they saw “cookie dough” on the label. I will admit, I was confused but I like oatmeal raisin, too!
Anyway, as I said, I joined their club and I am happy that I did. The club enables me to pick my own flavors and I get Smooth Caffeinator, All in Almond, Blueberry Boomdizzle and Cookie Doughpness. I get a good deal, had plenty to share with friends. I will send four lucky winners one of each of the flavors I receive!
