I am nervously awaiting the start of the 2014 NYC Marathon. I admit that even though I have tackled this race, and distance, many times, I am worried. Mostly about the weather. And then there is the fact that everyone and their brother knows I am doing it. What if something goes wrong? Well, this all reminds me of when my dear friend Lisa’s daughter was in Kindergarten, her teacher taught the kids a very important lesson. She said, “you get what you get and you don’t get upset.” I am probably taking this out of context, but I need to remind myself that “it is what it is.” You can’t control the weather.
I can only do one thing now- my best. I will remind myself that the ultimate goal is to complete #15 with a smile on my face and joy in my heart.
Good luck and godspeed marathoners. May the wind be at our backs, and if it is not, may we grin and bear it and soldier on! Let’s do this!
