If you come around here often (or even once in a while), you know that I love to try new things. I love to travel, workout and I am pretty much always on the move. I like to think that I live life to its fullest – at least I try my hardest! I also have my favorite things and brands and I constantly blab, I mean blog, about them. Through my partnership with Fit Approach and role as a Sweat Pink Ambassador, I participated in and won a prAna giveaway and then was offered the opportunity to test and review an oufit from their “early winter” collection. How cool is that?
prAna makes “clothing for people who live life fully, play long, and travel well.” I have always been a fan for yoga and one of my fave sweaters of all time was from prAna (sadly I lost it in a travel “incident” last year). The husband also has a few awesome summer button downs from prAna, so I was super excited to try out some pieces from the new line.
prAna is Sanskrit for breath, life and vitality of the spirit. This ancient word holds great meaning for the company. It guides their actions towards becoming and maintaining a socially mindful and environmentally sustainable organization. They have been around for 22 years and aspire to make great products that are easier on the environment. They make clothes for people who are “fun-loving, soulful people who travel well, play hard and care about the impact they have on the world around them.” They’ve focused on the details and “aren’t afraid to hang it out” when it comes to bold colors and whimsical patterns.
prAna’s apparel and accessories are made using fewer toxins and chemicals. As a partner of bluesign, prAna is already guided by the textile industry’s top standards – avoiding, wherever possible, processes that can cause harm to people or the environment. Additionally, the clothes are created with organic cotton, natural fibers and recycled materials. And, prAna helped pioneer Fair Trade Certified apparel and became the first major company in North America to produce and market Fair-Trade Certified styles.
I took my Lucia and Mena Sweaters and Halle Pants for a spin in Lincoln Park despite the cloudy skies. The husband was very nice to take these photos and to tool around with me!
- Lucia Sweater – I love the detail and the striped pattern on the back and cuffs of the sweater. It is made of recycled wool, but has a soft comfy lining so it is not itchy. It is really warm, too! Perfect for hanging out in Chicago or for apres ski! I love the fit, too. It is not boxy and fits perfectly.
- Mena Sweater – The asymmetrical neck offers a twist on the classic pullover. I got a ton of positive comments on my selfie in this great outfit. This is also a recycled wool blend that is is wrinkle resistant and naturally moisture managing. It has a super soft lining, too. Again warm and durable. This will be a great fall piece to wear alone and great for winter here in Chicago.
- Halle Pants – The best thing about these pants is they fit perfectly! No hem needed and they also can be rolled into capris. These pants are perfect for travel. They are scotchguarded to avoid stains, don’t wrinkle and look great inside and out. They have lots of pockets but are not bulky. They are great for hiking or active stuff, but look nice enough to wear for anything the weekend brings! They also come in a lined version for cold weather outdoor activities and for the polar vortex!
These are great classic pieces with a bit of fun thrown in! prAna also makes great colorful designs and lots of other colors, too. I picked the grays, white and black. They also have tons of great lifestyle and yoga pieces and accessories. These clothes are “mindfully designed, built to last” products. I know they will be around in my wardrobe for a LONG time. And they were husband approved, too!
You can keep up with prAna on Twitter and Facebook. prAna also has a great “Life” section on their website with great video and written content.
The early winter collection is awesome – for you or for the active folks on your holiday list. Great news, you can get 15% off on any prAna purchase from their website with code pspf14ef plus all orders ship free through November!
Have you tried prAna or other brands that “get” you lately?
Please note: I was provided with products through my relationship with Fit Approach in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for this post. All opinions are my own.
PS. Don’t forget my great giveaways!
