Socialist is “a social network for the obsessively organized.” Socialist is the new iPhone app that helps you create, collaborate and share lists all in one place. What does that mean? It is a place to keep lists of places and things you want to remember. Once you compile the lists, you can pin the places on maps, add songs or movie clips, share your lists with friends and see the lists of your friends and people you follow. You can also invite people to collaborate on your lists to make them better!
With the Socialist app, you can:
- Create lists to organize the things you love. Food, Films, Music, Shopping and more.
- They’ve partnered with your favorite companies like Netflix and Spotify, to provide a richer experience.
- Browse featured content and find inspiration from Vice, Milk, Complex and others.
- Follow friends to stay up to date on the things they love and find some great additions for your own lists.
- Invite friends, co-workers and lovers to collaborate to your lists. Share on Facebook, Twitter, Email or SMS.
- Import your favorite lists from Foursquare and sync new items on both services.
Selfishly, I just want to browse and borrow other people’s lists – hello, burgers in NYC. I am the Dr. Jekll and Mr. Hyde of being organized. I have a system for keeping track of things, but it is not as organized as this!

I have been keeping up with Boxed but have not tried it yet. Boxed lets you do warehouse club shopping from your smartphone, tablet or PC. They say you can “forget long lines, hassles and backaches. Boxed has all your favorite big box sized products at pint-sized prices. Save on time, gas and membership fees while shopping for items you use every day – all shipped to your door.” As I mentioned, I have not tried it, but Finds’ friend (and fellow deal finder extraordinaire), Lisa- a working mom in NYC, did. She shared her experience and piqued my interest again!

“As a full-time working mom of two kids 4 and under, living in Manhattan and lacking a car, online shopping is a godsend. Amazon, Diapers.com, Peapod, FreshDirect, Google Shopping Express — I’ve tried them all (and others, too) and continue to use many such services. When I saw a $20 off voucher for Boxed on Gilt City a few months ago, I grabbed it. Why not? It was free, and since we don’t belong to Costco, the idea of an online warehouse club seemed compelling. Unfortunately, by the time my voucher expired, I was still using an older version of iOS not compatible with the Boxed app. Wop-woo.
Fast forward a few months and now Boxed allows you to shop from their Web site, too! Shipping is free on your first order of any size, and I had a friend’s coupon code that saved me another $10 (here’s mine if you’d like to try it: KSVUQ). I put a bunch of stuff in my cart. I added Annie’s snacks and Fig Bars for my preschooler, Gerber yogurt pouches and Honest Company baby wash for my infant, Ocean’s Halo seaweed chips, Teas Tea and Method dish soap for me. (Diaper prices are similar to Diapers.com, so not competitive if you have Amazon Mom and Subscribe & Save.) I found significant savings on many other items, though, including the 12-bottle cases of tea for $11.99 each. And then, per Erica’s advice, I waited.
Magically, after a week (maybe two?), Boxed emailed me that there was a $10 gift in my account… to encourage me to complete my purchase. It worked — I ordered on Sept. 26 and on Sept. 30, two large and very heavy boxes arrived at my door. Everything was in great shape (no spills or broken/leaking containers). And they included a 10% off code for my next order too! I’m hooked. Try it and see what you think!”
