A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about confidence called 9 Things You Can Do to Boost Your Confidence based on a workshop I attended. A woman named Val commented and said, “We have just started a global campaign for boosting women’s confidence. Do you want to join?” with this link.
Sounds up my alley, so I went to the link and watched this video:
The founders remind us that women often are the first to criticize themselves. They say (and I agree) that “all of this negativity does no good and can do harm.” Negative thoughts prevent women from seeking out new opportunities and meeting their goals. This campaign encourages women (and men) to do something each day to make themselves happy for thirty days and to document it. If you want, you can share it on social media and encourage other people to join in the fun, but that is not required.
How? Join #iamthepower. Each day for 30 days, write down one thing that you did to make yourself happy. It can be big or small as long as it made you happy. Like what? Call a friend, stand up for yourself, have a coffee, go for a run, do yoga, give someone a kiss, play, turn off your cell phone, remember something great, plan something great… you get the point – do whatever makes you happy.
They say to simply “follow these 3 steps”:
Step 1: Sign Up
Step 2: Gather friends who can inspire and support you on a shared journey towards the greater version of yourself. [Who is with me?]
Step 3: Write down your “power” moments. Every day, for 30 days, write down one thing that you did to make yourself happy. That could be anything from enjoying a cappuccino, getting a massage to an honest talk with your colleague. It’s “a moment where you honor yourself fully and let go of the demands of others.”
Why should you do this? Science! It is scientifically proven to “boost your confidence and reach your goals. It’s scientifically proven that a self-commitment of this sort can rewire your brain structure.” Read more about the science behind this idea.
Everyone is invited to participate – regardless of age, profession or gender. Yet, WEFOUND dedicates this campaign specifically to women. WEFOUND “understands the importance of boosting women’s confidence since women hold the key to spreading wealth in this world.” Read more about what WEFOUND does HERE.
Good stuff! I am going to try it! How about you? Since I did my 100 day happiness challenge on social media, I think I will do this one privately and then post about it in 30 days. But, I encourage folks to try it on social media. I got a great response to my 100 happy days (recap) and totally enjoyed it, as well!
PS. Don’t forget my giveaways, those always make me happy!
