I have been seeing zucchini noodles everywhere this summer… well all over Instagram and Pinterest at least. When I was offered the opportunity to try out a “Veggie Spiralizer” a/k/a veggie noodle maker, I jumped at the chance!
The Briefton’s InstantVeg Spiralizer is a great way to help you to eat more vegetables in a new way. It has four settings to create different spiral sliced noodle widths. They provide a basic guide for which vegetables to try on which settings. The spiralizer is easy to put together and to clean. It is made of 100% BPA-free durable plastic and the blades are enclosed. There is “no risk to the fingers” – a good thing for me. It can be taken apart and stored easily, too! The slicer has a Lifetime Replacement Warranty, too. If you read this blog you know, I am not a master in the kitchen. This product could not have been easier to use! It was easy to assemble, use and clean.
I decided to make zucchini noodles and I got a large zucchini from the farmers market. I cut the zucchini into 4 inch pieces, placed one in the center and turned the handle. Voila! Zucchini noodles. It could not have been easier. I then steamed the noodles and added some spicy tomato salsa and had it with my chicken for an awesome side dish. Many people eat these raw. I will try that next time. I liked them lightly steamed!
I saw that apples were a recommended fruit so I cored one and made apple ribbons. I could not really figure out what to do with it so I just ate it! It was great, too. I like the idea of creating veggie ribbons and chopping them for adding to omelettes and quinoa, too. That is much easier than chopping. As usual, I went with simple and loved the results. Here are some delicious recipes for raw food dishes with a variety of veggies from Briefton’s. They even have one for my fave, butternut squash!
