Canyon Bakehouse Gluten Free bakery has a simple mission. They “want you to LOVE BREAD AGAIN!” They bake gluten free breads with 100% whole grains and clean ingredients so you can enjoy eating “without compromise.” Their breads are gluten free, vegan, kosher, made with 100% whole grains and are free of dairy, nuts, soy and casein. They are so confident that you will love the breads that they offer a ‘Satisfaction Guarantee.’ They want you to be 100% satisfied and I think you will be.
The bread comes in 7 Grain, Cinnamon Raisin, Mountain White, Deli Rye, Rosemary & Thyme Foccacia and Hamburger Buns. They also make Cranberry Crunch Muffins. I wrote to Canyon Bakehouse to let them know that I was having trouble finding their products in Chicago and they offered to send me some to try!
Since last year when I did the elimination diet, I have been eating mostly gluten free and really limiting any kind of bread. I have found some gluten free breads that I enjoy, but many of them are very crumbly. They work for PB and J, but not for sandwiches. When these arrived, I noticed they were super fluffy and held up to the squeeze test – yup, I squeezed the packages and they bounced right back.
I opened the Cinnamon Raisin and 7 Grain immediately and tasted them. They are both DELICIOUS. You pretty much can’t tell the difference between these and “regular” breads. I love the fact that they are also all natural and are dairy and soy free, too! I froze the bread for over 2 months and defrosted it to try with my Norm’s Farms Ginger Pecan Elderberry Jam. It was so delicious. I was very pleased with how well the bread held up in the freezer, too.
I put the Rosemary & Thyme Focaccia and Hamburger Buns in the freezer. I still have to try those! Here is what some other bloggers said about these:
“The gluten-free hamburger buns really impressed me because they were so fluffy. They came in handy for my husband’s birthday party and surprised others that they were gluten free as well! They’re large, too, so it definitely fit the burgers without a problem!” – Peas of Sweetness
“It’s chewy and soft like foccacia should be, with a lovely sprinkling of herbs. The bread is much more delicate in crumb than the others, falling apart if not sliced carefully with a serrated bread knife. We sampled this alongside a bowl of Indian Spiced Red Lentil Soup. When toasted on a tray in the oven, it’s perfect for dunking.” – The Whole Kitchen
