You may remember my Torie & Howard Organic Hard Candy mini-review from the Snack Show. I tried Tori & Howard’s hard candies in my April Bestowed box review and said, “I love hard candy and these are delicious and refreshing. They last a long time, too!”
The product line has a great story, too. The founders both experienced significant health events that changed the way they looked at food and nutrition. They say:
“For Howard, losing over a hundred pounds led to a renewed focus on eating as healthy and nutritionally conscious as possible. On his new lifestyle regimen, it became paramount to Howard that he optimize his consumption by eating only the most delicious and healthful foods and ensuring that every single calorie consumed had earned its pleasure quotient. At the Snack Show, I tried all of the flavors and they gave me a bunch to giveaway! These candies contain all natural ingredients, are USDA certified organic, Kosher certified, free of any preservatives, additives, artificial flavoring, chemicals or dyes. They are also allergy friendly. Each piece has only 12 calories and is remarkably satisfying. They have been called “a candy for adults” by The Supermarket Guru, Phil Lempert. What I like best is that they all leave a nice flavor in your mouth but don’t make me feel like I need to eat more right away like some candy.
The flavors are:
- D’anjou Pear and Cinnamon (my fave!) – The cinnamon and pear flavor reminds me of a delicious pear tart or similar dessert. The flavor is amazing.
- Pomegranate and Nectarine – The pomegranate flavor is stronger to me. The taste is pretty distinctive and to me seems like a cross between cherry and grape. They are very good!
- Blood Orange and Honey – The slightly tart citrus and the sweetness of honey makes this a very tasty option, too!
- Pink Grapefruit and Tupelo Honey – This candy has a distinctive grapefruit flavor and the honey sweetens it perfectly. This is a nice, mild candy that leaves a pleasant aftertaste.
