You may remember that I went to the Sweets and Snacks show and tried to meet as many healthy snack companies as I could. I previewed my finds that week. I have been working my way through some of the healthy snacks from there (and everywhere) and some other goodies. What do these three have in common? They are all natural, gluten free, non-GMO, vegan, nutritious AND delicious!
Through a partnership with Tomoson, I had the opportunity to try Tiger Nuts. What are Tiger Nuts? Tiger Nuts are actually NOT nuts, they are a tuber that grows below the ground’s surface. They have “all of the nutrients and energy benefits of nuts and then some, but without the stuff that can adversely affect allergies.” Tiger nuts are “packed with fiber, vitamins and nutrients and deliver a serious wallop of energy.” These are all natural, gluten free and paleo certified. They come in Peeled Organic and Supreme Peeled varieties. Tiger Nuts are a rich source of nutrients and minerals including phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, calcium and iron plus unsaturated fats, protein and enzymes to aid digestion. Want to learn more? Check out these videos.
I got an email from Jack, the “chief nut”. He said,
“You can enjoy [Tiger Nuts] direct from the bag and frankly you do not have to eat that many as they are packed with fiber and tend to fill you up and help curb your appetite.
Frankly, Tiger Nuts are not for everyone, but they are for people that know how to read the back label of a food product, who are looking to become or stay healthy, who may struggle with celiac disease, diabetes or have nut allergies. But like my Mom used to say, they are “morish”, and by that she meant that once you start eating them, you want more!”
I can totally see what Jack’s mom meant! I tasted them and I had a hard time placing what they taste like. They are not super nutty but they are tasty. They are a bit sweet. The texture is not as crisp as most nuts, or even a raw carrot. Once I had a few, I went back for more. I still have not decided what they “taste like,” but I am a fan. They are also pretty reasonably priced for an organic food. A 5 oz bag is $5.99 and two bags are $10.99. They also sell by the kilo. Health conscious folks, people with nut allergies or Diabetes should check these out!
You can shop for Tiger Nuts HERE or follow on Facebook or Twitter.

At the Snack Show, one of my faves was SuperEats kale and chia chips. I loved the taste of the chips and meeting founders Charlie and Aaron.
The chips come in Sea Salt, Cheddar, Ranch, Tomato Basil, Chili Lime and Original. I love the Chili Lime and Original and was super psyched to find some in my Vegan Cuts box and my Urth Box in June. I still have to try the Tomato Basil and Cheddar.
SuperEats kale and chia chips are natural, gluten-free, non-GMO, kosher, vegan and paleo-friendly. SuperEats are “Packed with the Good Stuff.” They created a chip that “not only avoids the bad stuff, but actually gives your body what it needs.” These chips are stuffed with the antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins of kale, along with the fiber, protein, energy and Omega-3 fatty acids of chia.
You have to try these! In the meantime, keep up with SuperEats on Facebook and Twitter.
