I am still getting the hang of Instagram and am having a lot of fun posting my #100HappyDays posts there (if you want to see). Two of my faves, ZOOMA and Goldplaited, have fun contests running right now on Instagram and I am going to share them with you.

I also want to tell you about some cool running races that are coming to Chicago (and one series that is global!)
Race 1: I was selected as a blogger ambassador for the Energizer Night Race for a Brighter World. This 5K takes place in downtown Chicago on June 7, 2014 in the evening. All participants receive an Energizer headlamp to pave the way for the evening run. Why am I interested in this? The Chicago event is part of a larger series of races that will take place all over the world this year. To honor participants, Energizer will donate 14 million hours of light to families around the world through their partner, One Million Lights – a non-profit that provides clean, safe, affordable solar lighting to rural communities globally.
The race is $35 and each participant will receive an Energizer LED headlamp, race shirt and pre/post entertainment. The race will begin at sunset with every participant wearing their headlamp so we can light up the night! This event will feature a pre and post-race celebration with fun activities, great sponsors, concessions and live entertainment. You can sign up/learn more HERE.
Race 2: Did you know that epilepsy impacts over 3 million people in the United States? The Epilepsy Foundation of Chicago has been working to help people of Illinois with epilepsy since 1946! They have three 5K running events with the goal to raise $300,000.
There are two events left: one this Saturday, May 3 in Libertyville and May 10 at Montrose Harbor in Chicago. Races are chip timed and registration is $35 in advance and $45 on site. There is a “walker designation” (untimed) which is $25 in advance and $35 on site. You can help this organization to meet their goal and enjoy a scenic 5K run in the process. A WIN-WIN.
Race 3: OK – last one for today. Did you know that my alma mater, Rutgers University, joined the Big 10? Fleet Feet Chicago knows. On July 26, you can join the BTN Big 10K (there is a 5K, too) and wear the colors/logos of your alma mater (or mine) in the race with the cool custom race shirts. Inside sources tell me that less than .1% of the 4,500 are joining the Scarlet Knight team. Who wants to race me to see who is the fastest Chicago Scarlet Night?
