I love finding new apps and websites to make fitness more convenient. Amanda challenged us to include an extra five minutes of core work in our days for her Spring Booty Buster Challenge and I saw Hot5 Fitness on the Today Show. Then I got an email asking me to check out BurnThis – so I did! Good stuff all around!
Hot5 Fitness : High Intensity Functional Video Workouts with Personal Trainers. Even the description is quick, “Fast effective workouts for people on-the-go.” This app offers a free series of five minute video workouts that you can combine in any way. Whether you have 5 minutes or much more, this app can help you get fit on the go!
There are a wide variety of exercises from beginner to expert, Yoga to Cardio, there’s a workout for everyone. You can do 5 minutes at the end of a jog to work your core, 25 minutes of yoga flow in your hotel room or 45 minutes of full body workouts. You get the picture.
App features include:
- FREE high-quality workout videos
- Custom music synced to the workout
- Workouts stored locally so you can workout when traveling or offline
- Calorie tracking that can connect with MyFitnessPal
- Ability to earn points to redeem for discounts on great fitness apparel
- Progress monitoring
- Save your favorite workouts and vary the order as you like
It is easy to download a series of 5 minute videos for workouts. The key tells you if it is easy, medium or hard and what you need (mat, dumbbells, etc.) You then select your workout and the app displays each move, and sets the timer for five minutes. The audio tells you what to do and the video shows you. The timer keeps track of the exercise for you. The instructor even encourages you! (Wow – a minute is not short when you do ab exercises!)
This app is awesome and will be great for traveling or varying workouts at the gym! Thanks Today Show for this tip!
BurnThis is an app that makes booking fitness classes simple (and social – if you want)! Book your favorite fitness classes on the go, track your progress, coordinate workouts with friends, discover new studios and meet new people with similar fitness interests.
BurnThis recently launched in Chicago with eight studio partners. They run special promotions through the app with fitness studio partners and are co-hosting two in May with The Bar Method and Pilates ProWorks. You can download the app. Their blog has a post that further explains the app’s features.
You can access the schedules for many boutique fitness studios in NY, Miami, LA, and now Chicago, without the hassle of logging in and out of different apps and websites. You enter your credit card once and then book anytime you want. I love that feature as it is a pain to manage log-ins and classes at a variety of studios. The app keeps track of multi-class packages for you, as well. You can also see when classes are full and if other friends using BurnThis are going.
