I first learned about Platinum Performance supplements from Finds’ fave nutritionist Lauren Antonucci in the early 2000s (or maybe late 90s! Wow!) She mentioned the Platinum Performance “granules” in this How to Eat like a Nutritionist article in Triathlete Magazine is September. She describes the Platinum Performance “Wellness Formula” as “a delicious-tasting ground flaxseed based granular product.” I agree, it is tasty and is great in oatmeal, yogurt, mixed in pancakes, etc. It is one of the only supplements that I have tried that tastes good plain. Platinum Performance Wellness Formula provides omega-3 fatty acids from freshly ground flax seeds, organic flax oil, and vegetarian DHA (25 mg per serving). Each scoop also contains protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber essential for good health. They also make small Platinum Bars in original flavor which taste like the Wellness Formula. They have a strong molasses taste. I love them. They have “lifestyle” bars in Sunflower Chocolate Chip, Blueberry Crisp and Cranberry Crisp, too.
Jessie from Platinum Performance contacted me after speaking with Lauren to see if I wanted to try one of their new products, Platinum PAKS, for a review and giveaway. She also sent me some Platinum Performance Wellness Formula, Platinum Lifestyle Bars in all flavors and an awesome Headsweats running hat! One interesting thing that we discussed and I noticed on the website is that Platinum Performance is best known for their supplements and products for horses and dogs and cats. They are a leader in equine health (and have 119,000 likes on Facebook!) All of the products (animal and human) contains no chemical preservatives, artificial flavors or coloring. They have some great (human) success stories on their blog, too! Their products are used by professional and recreational athletes of all levels – and non-athletes, too.
I had a phone consultation with Jessie and we discussed the vitamin supplements I was taking, my age, activity level, etc. They then formulated a set of Platinum PAK vitamins for me. They come in a convenient folder and case. Each day, you take off sections from the folder according to your plan. Since I was actively training for the marathon and running 45 miles per week, or more, and cross training, Jessie recommended their Platinum Power High Performance Athlete Formula, and Platinum DHA in addition to the other supplements I was taking. They have supplements (vitamins and minerals) for a variety of health conditions and wellness benefits. See them all HERE. The best part of the Platinum PAKs, other than the convenience, is the customization with the “Platinum Advisors” who include nutritionists, physicians and registered dieticians. They also have live chat and email channels. With Platinum PAKs and other supplements, you can set up automatic re-order or order as you go.
There has been quite a bit of controversy on supplements versus real food. I do try to get the majority of my vitamins and minerals from food. I like the Platinum Wellness Formula and lifestyle bars to add the Omega 3s, DHA and minerals into my diet. When I asked Jessie about this, she said, “our bodies have a hard time getting what they need from our diet alone, so the right supplements are an important piece of staying healthy. And since there are infinite options out there, find a supplement company you trust, and consult with them on the best products for your individual needs.” She recommended Platinum Performance’s Platinum PAKs for “a completely personalized supplement plan.” She reminded me that “[their] ingredients are backed by science and [their] expert advisors can help guide you in the right direction.“
Platinum Performance has offered one lucky reader a telephone consultation and one month free Performance PAKs. Since I am such a huge fan of the Platinum Bars, a second lucky reader will win one box of 20 Platinum Bars.
