Friday Finds: Get a Lift From Upwave, B the Change + More!

At BlogHer ’13, I went to a session on social media that was just OK, but it had an unexpected payoff – I met Nicole T. and learned about upwave! What is upwave? It is a new online media channel focusing on health and wellness from Turner Broadcasting. Their “About Me” page is more of a manifesto and I love it.

Upwave has five main topics: move, eat, thrive, relax and connect. Within these sections, they have great articles, videos, quizzes, tips and profiles. They also have “features” that span all of the segments like “Who The Health Knows“, “No More Buts…” and “Why I….” On December 1st, their three new tv shows will launch: Cook Your Ass Off, The Tim Ferriss Experiment and The Dose with Dr. Billy. I love the format, energy and tone of upwave and also have been enjoying their weekly newsletters with most popular posts. You can create an account so that the content you see will be personalized to your interests or you can just check out the site as a guest. I am sure I will be sharing a lot of great stuff from upwave in the months to come! Check it out!

B corpKelly’s company, Ideaction Corps, was mentioned this week in the Wall Street Journal in an article on B Corps. What is a B Corp? Per the article:

“Since 2007, a nonprofit organization called B Lab has been certifying for-profit companies that demonstrate sustainable business practices, such as producing less waste and tapping local supply chains.
