These days you can find all sorts of peanut butter flavors and combinations, but Peanut Butter & Co has been at it since 1998! The husband went to college with Lee Zalben, (a/k/a “The Peanut Butter Guy”) the man behind PB & Co. Lee’s friend, Abby, is our friend, too. Back in 1998 she gave us some to try and told us about his peanut butter sandwich restaurant in Greenwich Village. Who would have guessed you can now get PB & Co all over the US? (I should have – it is awesome!)
Some time before the year 2000, I fell in love with Cinnamon Raisin Swirl and Dark Chocolate Dreams and it was farewell to Skippy for me! My friends can tell you that I have turned many of them on to this addictive stuff. The funniest story about this has to be when I told our friend (and at the time realtor), Marissa, that I could not consider living in a place with a kitchen with a mirrored back splash. She asked “why?” and I said “because I don’t want to see myself eating my peanut butter out of the jar with a spoon.” She laughed. Then I sent her a 6 pack of PB & Co as a thank you gift and she TOTALLY understood. When Stacy asked, “what do you eat the Dark Chocolate Dreams with?, ” I too quickly answered “a spoon.”
PB & Co now has 10 flavors. I am still devoted to my Cinnamon Raisin Swirl and Dark Chocolate Dreams, but I have a new love – Mighty Maple. As my friend Jeff says “it’s like crack” (and he means that in a good way!) Peanut Butter & Co.’s line of all-natural peanut butter contains no hydrogenated oils, no cholesterol, no trans-fats and, no high fructose corn syrup. All flavors are gluten-free, vegan (except for The Bee’s Knees which is vegetarian) and certified kosher. They use only USA-grown peanuts, too.
A few years ago, PB & Co started making individual serving EZ Squeezy Squeeze Packs. These are PERFECT for runners and anyone on the go. They are great for me, because when it comes to PB & Co, I have absolutely no self control. These are great to take to a destination race or to your desk to add to oatmeal or eat with an apple (or any other vehicle for your peanut butter ;)). The Squeeze Packs come in three flavors: Smooth Operator, The Bee’s Knees (honey) and Dark Chocolate Dreams.
PB & Co sent me a 10 pack of each of the three flavors for review. I shared them with my friends – my very own “peanut gallery”! I also enjoyed one of each flavor myself with my apple orchard apples. It has been years since I have had the Smooth Operator and The Bee’s Knees. I loved the Smooth Operator. True to its name, it is so smooth and easy to spread from the pack. It is perfect for apples, to add to oatmeal or to spread on anything. No mess and low waste! The Bee’s Knees is really good, too. It is naturally sweetened so not super sweet like some brands. The Dark Chocolate Dreams still feels like a decadent treat to me and it is good for you! Great for a quick chocolate fix! I even ate some of my Mighty Maple on bread (GF Manna Organics Cinnamon Raisin Bread – giveaway coming soon!) – instead of just my spoon for a change!
From the “peanut gallery”:
- “Squeeze packs are awesome to attempt self-control.  Attempt…” 🙂
- “Love all the flavors, especially with apples picked myself from a fall adventure at the orchard!”
- “I would squeal with delight if they made Mighty Maple in squeeze packs! Â For now, I will continue with jar and spoon.”
- “I love the convenience of the packs – can bring them to work or after a workout (long ride in the ‘burbs) easily.”Â
- “It’s probably a good thing the maple isn’t available in packs as I’d go through it far too quickly.  I truly believe any food is better with maple.  For now I’m left adding maple syrup and peanut butter to my oatmeal separately instead of together.”Â
- “I loved the packets.  Thought they were all delicious!  My favorite was probably the chocolate one…  I really liked the individual packaging.  It was the perfect amount to dip my apples into.  A great snack this time of the year!  I definitely plan to pick some up to have with me for a quick, easy and delicious snack when I’m out and about.”
- “Peanut Butter and Co is totally awesome! Two thumbs up! No extra sugar – just all good!”
- “I tried the Peanut Butter & Co. “Bees Knees” package. Â I love the convenience of the packet and can see myself keeping a few in my desk drawer to add to apples, crackers…or directly into my mouth. Â I tried it on an apple and it was good, but I think it would be even better on toast or graham crackers. Â Definitely a good sweet afternoon snack!”
