Discover Grocery Deals, An Easy Way To Try New Experiences & More

FavadoBlogger150x150Sometimes it seems challenging to keep on top of sales to get the groceries and drug store products you buy at the best prices. Now there is an app for that! Favado is a mobile savings app that helps shoppers save time and money by discovering the best deals in more than 65,000 grocery and drugstores nationwide. Favado uses real-time couponing data to provide access to exclusive matching deals (coupons plus in-store promotions) for the best savings. Other features include planning tools for weekly shopping trips and insider access to unlisted deals. By combining coupons and offers with both published sale prices and “insider” sales, the best deals are made available right on your phone .

The app walks you through how to save on your first use

Favado lets you:

  • Compare prices at stores you choose in your neighborhood
  • Search for deals on products you are looking for
  • Personalize deals that you see and alerts
  • Create shopping lists and get coupons right from your phone (note: currently you have to print coupons that you can send to yourself and use other apps like Ibotta for additional savings – they are working on integration/better mobile access)
  • See products by categories and types
  • Access coupons immediately or email them to yourself

Favado is available free for iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices.

I am going to try it and I will let you know how I do. What do you think? Worth a try?

vimblyWant to plan something fun for yourself, a group of friends or for you and your partner? Need help? Vimbly is now in Chicago! At Vimbly you can quickly compare prices and schedules for classes throughout Chicago (and NYC and Seattle, too).  Vimbly lets you find and book recreational activities.  It eliminates the upfront time you spend when booking unique activities like classes, lessons or tours.  All of the information is in one place, so you don’t have to call or email a bunch of places to see what is available and wait for them to get back to you.

I especially like that they have organized experiences in easy to navigate categories. The categories are: Editor’s Picks, “Make Me Interesting”, Creative, Food Adventures, Cooking Classes, Dance for Beginners, Fighting and Self Defense, Live Entertainment and Best Dating Ideas (includes 1st date, 2nd date, 3rd date, His and Hers!)

Vimbly offers a guarantee, too! The “Vimbly Handshake” is simple. In the unlikely situation that you have a bad experience, they will make you whole. If you are disappointed with an activity you booked through Vimbly, they will refund your money no questions asked.

Vimbly contacted me to check out a class. I am planning to try it after the NYC marathon. I will let you know how it is! I love the idea of finding new experiences in my city – don’t you?

OSC MarciaI need to decide on my “One Small Change” for the week. To recap, Marcia has a challenge on her blog to make one small, healthy change per week (cumulative) through the end of the year to maintain health and fitness through the holidays. The first week, I decided to add 20 push ups/50 sit ups every day. I am doing well with that one. Last week, I decided to start the a meditation program… again. Fail! This week, I am going to make sure to drink more water every day. I do really well with that in the summer. As it gets colder, I fall off of the wagon.

Anyone have suggestions for the next few weeks?
