I love new apps – especially FREE ones – that can help with my fitness. Then, add on a company that gives back and I am downloading as quick as you can say “WIN-WIN!” OK friends, check out Run BSX:
Run BSX lets you “take the guesswork out of training and make every mile count.” Their “Intelligent Pacing” system finds your lactate threshold and creates your five personalized running zones to accurately determine your running ability. With the “runCoach” feature on Run BSX, you’ll know exactly how fast you should run for your plan and for how long with audio prompts along the way. You can also just “RunQuick” and the app will track you mileage and pace and call out your mile splits. Ryan, Stacy and I did this on our hilarious, circuitous 2.1 mile run from work to Fleet Feet on the streets. It worked perfectly.
Here are some cool features:
- Built-in GPS feature maps your workouts in real time and tracks pacing zones if you set them
- It maps, tracks and records your runs including distance, time, calories, pace, speed, lap time, split time and more
- Detailed history & performance can be viewed on the app and with a free account at runBSX.com
- Audio cues update you each mile with average pace, lap time, split time and more
Also, Run BSX is donating $10 to The Erika Brannock Fund for every person who runs a total of 26.2 miles with runBSX from April 17-May 17. The Fund will support Erika Brannock who was injured at the Boston Marathon while supporting her mom, Carol, who was running the race. Erica lost one of her legs in the attack and other members of her family suffered injuries as well.
Here’s how it works:
- Download the free runBSX app – http://bit.ly/runBSXc.
- Run 26.2 total miles with the app between now and May 17.
- That’s it! They will track the miles of our users and update you every few days with the number of people who have completed the 26.2.
- On May 17, they’ll let us know the total number of people who completed the challenge and donate the money directly to The Brannock Fund.
To join Run BSX’s #runforBoston campaign, you can download runBSX here. And heck, if you don’t run, WALK! I downloaded the app yesterday and used it for the “Runners for Boston” run. It seems so cool. I can’t wait to try more of the features. Check it out!
Yesterday was Earth Day, but I would like to pay more attention to the earth every day! Tamara from FitKnitChick posted about an assignment that her kids had for Earth Day. Then she came up with this list of activities that are good for the earth and good for your health. This seems like sensible advice for everyone. And, as I like to say a “win-win”!
