Wisdom from Strong Inside Out & 30×30 Hits Chicago!

I wrote about Amy Clover’s 30 x 30 IndieGoGo campaign in January. I am a “Greatist Ambassador” and one of the perks is being hooked up to a great Facebook group where Ambassadors share ideas, questions and comments. Amy posted a link to a really cool project she ran on IndieGoGo.

Amy is a fitness trainer in Los Angeles and is currently is doing a nationwide bootcamp tour to promote fitness as a way to support recovery from depression and addiction. She is hitting 30 cities in honor of her 30th birthday! The funds she raises will go to To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA), a non-profit movement, which is dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. She is truly an inspiration and will help many young people with her campaign!

As a perk of supporting her campaign, I get daily “Empower Yourself” emails from her blog Strong Inside Out. You know I like to share my perks and I love these emails. Amy is wise beyond her years. You can read her story HERE. This is from yesterday:

A great reminder and something to think about!
A great reminder and something to think about!

These emails make me think every day, but here are some that I especially like:
> “Embrace your differences. OWN them. They are what make you different than everyone else out there. They make you extraordinary.”

> “Don’t be afraid to ask for help. I owe much of my success to the friendships I have made along the way. When asking for help, try one of these 2 methods: Offer them something that would benefit they’re business or personal life or simply present your idea. If they want to help, they will offer it up themselves. And remember, it’s not the end of the world if they don’t think it’s a good fit. There is someone out there who will love it. Never stop trying.”

> “One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received was one of the simplest: “Live your life.” Don’t wait. Don’t make excuses for why you can’t. Just live.”

> “Strength is in persistence. Every “no” leads you to that one “yes” that makes everything worth while. Keep going.”

> “‘The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.’ -Ralph Waldo Emerson”

Definitely thought provoking and empowering – wouldn’t you agree?
