I am not sure if I have mentioned this, but I am not a great sleeper. I sometimes have insomnia and generally don’t spend enough time winding down or sleeping. I often read articles on sleep and getting more/better sleep in particular (and then mostly not following them – as with much of the other helpful advice I read and post!) But I digress…
Here are just a few links that I collected this week:
– How Sleep Deprivation Impacts Attractiveness and Approachability from Huffington Post. Studies conclude (not surprisingly): “‘Our first experiment has shown that people are perceived differently when they have been deprived of sleep, the second one shows that on top of that people just don’t want to socialize with sleep-deprived people,’ Dr. John Axelsson explains. So, if you don’t feel desirable or charming, or even if you feel ugly or socially excluded, don’t wait for the Prince, and have a good night of sleep.”
– Best Foods for Deep Sleep from Shape Magazine. I do sometimes drink chamomile tea, but some of these are interesting.
– Why Sleep Is So Important (Infographic) from Mind Body Green. I especially like the (common sense but useful) tips at the end.
But this infographic got my attention and I could not wait to share it! There are so many things to discuss…Take a look:
I think I could write a bunch on any of these but I am especially intrigued by #6, #7, #8 and #9:
6. 12% people dream in black and white – I wonder if that will go to 0 given that almost nothing is black and white anymore
7. Dreaming is normal – I love the blunt statement, “People who do not dream generally have personality disorders” Anyone willing to admit this?? I always thought that everyone has dreams, but some people just don’t remember them.
8. Your sleep position may predict your personality – I think I am a “c” (sometimes “a”) which combined together may be among the best descriptions of me ever written. The husband is sometimes “c” and sometimes “f”. He is an excellent listener…especially if you are the Family Guy or talking about cars ;). What letter are you and is it a good description?
9. 25% of married couples sleep in separate beds. Seriously? I would never guess that one. Anyone?
OK – I love this infographic – do you? what is your favorite observation??
