Score! Last year a few of my close friends and I went to Miami to celebrate a 40th birthday and got a smoking deal on suites at Canyon Ranch Miami. It was $300/night with a $75/night resort credit for 2 nights per room (4 people – 2 rooms to share). It. Was. Awesome! Well, the last of our spa going foursome is a year younger (she is a smarty pants and skipped first grade) and she is turning 40. I booked a pretty good deal at another spa and waited. Then Rue La La came through again with $749 for 2 nights with a $200 resort credit per room. This includes the gym and aquavana spa, pools, fitness classes and 2 two-room suites to share. I’m not going to lie – it is fantastic. Our spa going foursome is headed there mother’s day weekend. YAY!
OK – I have a confession and a question…Are there any celebrities/athletes that you have a love/hate relationship with? For me – it’s the Kardashians (I admit it – I sometimes “keep up”) and Bethenny Frankel (I vacillate between not being able to look at her and not being able to look away. Is she my personal train wreck?) Well – I entered a sweepstakes to win her book “Skinnydipping” and so can you here. I want to read it but I don’t want to buy it! Here is my question for you: who wins all of these prizes I read about in magazines and on blogs. Have you ever won any? I won a few things in a silent auction charity raffle, but never from giving my email address/logging in… More “prizes” from Self are here. Let me know if you have ever won anything in these sweepstakes!
Last thing for today… a deal for Mother’s Day. Any of our local Nettlehorst farmer’s market shoppers will recognize this one. Daily Candy Deals is offering a deal on Katherine Anne confections. Katherine Duncan crafts artisan delights focusing on local, organic ingredients. (I have tried her caramels and truffles and they are delish!) There are 2 deals:
– One is national: $23 Artisanal Truffle/Caramel Collection (Actual Value $39 | Discount 41%)The gift set includes a seven-piece truffle medley, a 7-oz. caramel medley, and two fleur de sel caramels (soft, honey-vanilla caramel wrapped in 72 percent cacao bittersweet chocolate sprinkled with French sea salt). (Does not include shipping but your mom will thank you! Trust me)
– For the Chicagoans, you can take her truffle making class: $40 Mother’s Day Truffle Making Class for One
(Actual Value $80 | Discount 50%) “Each two-and-a-half-hour class starts with mimosas, cheese, and charcuterie. Small groups create four springtime truffles (salted caramel, raspberry rose, champagne grapefruit, carrot cake) from first measurement through final taste test. After a break for scones and finger sandwiches, you’ll scoop and roll truffles. Take home six to eight of your creations and recipes for each.” Seems like fun! Check out the link here
