Five Things Friday

Hello from the friendly skies. The wifi up here is terrible so not sure when this post will go live. It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five 2.0. In the new format, we have no suggested themes. I’ve been struggling to decide what to blog about this week, so I’m just going to tell you “five things.”

1. April is Stress Awareness Month. My company had some layoffs this month so I can relate to this one. My number one stress reliever is running with friends. (Or just running if no friends are available!) I recently saw a stress management tip that I thought was awesome. It was something like “Think about the last time you were stressed about something in particular. Think about how it turned out. Ask yourself if the extra worry had any impact on the outcome or if the result is impacting you or your family today.” So true. As they say, this too shall pass. [Here’s a great list of 23 Scientifically Proven Ways to Relieve Stress from HuffPost.] What is your best stress management tip?

2. It really bugs me when you pay a fortune for wifi on the plane and it barely works. #travelgripes

3. I jumped on an earlier flight to try to beat the terrible weather in Chicago that’s expected for this weekend. I have a window seat. I know people love the window seat, but I feel so trapped and I have to go to the bathroom. Do you prefer window, middle or aisle?

4. I have a long run tomorrow and the forecast is atrocious. I think I might try 18 – 20 miles on the treadmill. I don’t mind the treadmill as much as most people I know, but that’s a lot of ‘mill miles. Treadmill or face the elements? What’s your longest ‘mill run ever?

5. It’s Lynn’s birthday tomorrow and her chosen event is “Cat Yoga” and brunch. Cat yoga is at Catcade. The Catcade is a no kill shelter that allows people to come play with the cats for a fee (smart idea), video game lounge and has a yoga / cat play session every other Sunday. I love Lynn so I signed up. I’m a bit worried about squashing a cat when I go into Child’s Pose or other unfortunate cat issues, but… I’m in. What’s the craziest thing you’ve done to celebrate with a friend?

I hope that you have a great weekend and that the crazy weather doesn’t dampen your plans!
