You Pick! Custom Protein Bars from The Bar Shack #Giveaway

Did you ever want to make your own protein bars with only the ingredients you choose? Me too, but who has time for that? Not me. I had the opportunity to check out custom protein bars from The Bar Shack. They reached out and said I could pick my own ingredients from their list of healthy, non-GMO and mostly organic options.

The Bar Shack’s founder made protein bars and other healthy treats at Macaw! Foods. He’d often get requests from people who wanted their own new flavor and protein combinations. That’s how The Bar Shack was born.

Through their website, you choose your own ingredients and they make them fresh for you. You can see the macros and nutrition information as you add ingredients. They have a large variety of ingredients including many vegan options, they use no GMO’s and their ingredients are almost all organic. They recently added a “Cheat Day” page, where you can build bars with more “fun” and unusual ingredients.

Helpful prompts!

I went on and checked out the process. There are three options: protein bar, gourmet protein bar and “cheat day” bar. I was concerned that I wouldn’t know what to pick, but there are helpful prompts. You pick your base, nut butter, protein powders, nuts and seeds, dried fruits, “flavor enhancers” and boosters. Then, you pick a wrapper color and name your bar. As you add ingredients, you can see the calories and macros on the nutrition label for the 55 g bar.

I ordered a gourmet protein bar and a “cheat day” dessert bar. The bars come with the ingredients and nutrition information on them. They also save your ingredient list in your account so you can re-order the winners.

My Almond Cherry Bars have 10 ingredients. They are almond butter, dates, egg white protein, tart cherries, oats, almonds, flax seeds, bee pollen powder, cinnamon and maple flakes. (All organic except the egg white powder and bee pollen powder.) Each 55 g bar is 249 calories and has 11 g of protein and 6 g of fiber. These bars are very good. They are a bit crumbly (maybe because I asked for “less datey.”) These are a great mid morning snack and are perfect with coffee.

My “Cheat Day” Cashew Bars have 8 ingredients. They are chocolate honey cashew butter, dates, egg white protein, cashews, chocolate chips, cinnamon, vanilla extract and maple sugar flakes. (All organic except the egg white powder and vanilla extract.) Each 55 g bar is 235 calories and has 11 g of protein and 3 g of fiber. These bars are delicious! I was so happy with how these turned out. Even though they have a few “splurge” ingredients, they are still nutritious.

I enjoyed making my own bars. At $3/bar for protein bars and $3.5o/bar for gourmet and cheat day bars, they’re not cheap. However, they use high quality ingredients and they are super fresh. They are good for up to six months if stored in the refrigerator or freezer. These would also be really fun for wedding favors or corporate events.
