Tried It Tuesday: Perfect Fit Meals

pfm-logo-fbIf you’ve been around here much, you know that I love to eat healthy but I’m often on the go. Truth be told, I’m not much of a cook either. I had the opportunity to try Perfect Fit Meals. I think these were made for me! Perfect Fit Meals offers nutrient dense, ready-to-eat meals at your local supermarket. The meals are hand crafted, portion-controlled and dietitian designed for people on the go (or at home) who want a healthy meal.

Perfect Fit Meals’ menu currently has 13 entrees that are available chilled in the supermarket. The meals feature lean, hormone free proteins, a serving of vegetables and low glycemic sides. The proteins are chicken, turkey or pork loin. The containers are BPA free, so you can heat the meals in ~90 seconds in your microwave. The meals are fresh not frozen, but can be stored in the freezer for up to two months.

Perfect Fit Meals sent me four chicken entrees to try. Each meal had 330 calories or less. The ones I tried were Coconut Chicken, Chicken Parmesan, Lemon Pepper Chicken and Havana Chicken.

The Havana Chicken had a nice spicy kick. It was served with brown rice, black beans, tomatoes and a side of green beans. This meal was tasty and hearty. It was really filling and tasted as good as some of the healthy meals that I’ve had delivered.

The Lemon Pepper Chicken was served with brown rice and roasted squash. The lemon pepper seasoning was light and tasty. The chicken was tender. The squash and zucchini were nicely cooked, too.

The Chicken Parmesan was lightly seasoned and the tomato sauce was plentiful and delicious. I really enjoyed this one! I wouldn’t have picked it, but I will definitely buy it again if I see it. The portion was way bigger than I would’ve expected. I steamed some zucchini with it, too. A small salad would’ve been a great side, as well.

Oops. Took this picture without the label!

The Coconut Chicken was served with basmati rice pilaf and sugar snap peas. The chicken was tender and the coconut coating was really tasty, as well. The side dishes were great, too.

I really enjoyed my Perfect Fit Meals. I’m looking forward to checking out more varieties and I sure hope that I see these on the road!  If you’re in Chicago, you can find PFMs at many Jewel Osco stores.  For a complete list of retail locations, visit PFM’s locations page.
