Friday Five: 5 Things I’m Loving Lately

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Courtney at Eat, Pray, Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run. Each week they pick a theme and bloggers join in and link up. This year instead of specific themes, they are letting us be creative with broad themes for each week of the month.

5 Things FI

This is a “free” week, so I can write whatever tickles my fancy. I couldn’t zone in on any one thing last night, so here are “5 Things I’m Loving Lately.”

No judgements please!

1. Audible books – If you’ve been around here, you may know that I have a reading “guilty pleasure.” I love fiction books and read a ton. My “guilty pleasure” is mysteries /police procedural novels. My dad and stepmom read them when I was growing up. My dad also used to listen to books on tape. He gave them to me after he heard them. I recently started listening to mysteries and police books (and other books) on Audible. I’ve been listening when I walk and run… and even when I’m blogging. I recently read my first Kindle book with Whispersync audio. Basically, you read on Kindle and listen on audio and the phone knows where to start based on the Kindle. Don’t get me wrong, I still love “real” books, but this is pretty awesome!

2. Starting to see “Fall stuff” – I’m not a summer lover like most Chicagoans. I hope they can’t kick me out for that! Fall is my favorite season. I’m loving seeing fall stuff around like candy corn and Peanut Butter & Co Pumpkin Spice Peanut Butter. [Go to Peanut Butter & Co. using this link and enter to win a jar of Pumpkin Spice and a cool mug!] I hope my fall squashes will be at the Farmer’s Market soon.

Urthbox
This month’s Urthbox

3. Urthbox – You know I’ve tried pretty much every subscription snack box there is. Many of them send repeat snacks or brands I don’t love. Urthbox consistently sends new brands I want to try (Hippeas, Hungry Buddha), new to me brands (Teapigs, ProSpinach and more) and old faves (Picky Bar, Umpqua Oats and Popcorners). There are also coupons for many products in the box.

This small (12+ snacks/month) vegan box is $19.99 including shipping and it always feels “worth it” to me. Urthbox offer full sized, Non-GMO, organic and all natural snacks from “trustworthy brands.” They offer a variety of sizes and dietary profiles (classic, gluten free, vegan and diet/calorie conscious). Get $10 off your first box with code K8H78N.

4. Taking a wee break from long runs – You may have seen my SF Marathon recap. It kicked my butt. I’m still feeling tired and burned out. I am taking it easy for August and will see how I feel in September for NYC. I have a huge base from LA (recap) and San Fran. In the mean time, I’m enjoying sleeping a little later and limiting my runs to 90 minutes or less.

Love me a good deal!

5. My new wallet – Kate Spade had a “surprise sale.” I got a $198 wallet for $49. You know I love a good deal. Even better, the wallet is really nice and is classic style that I’ll love in the years ahead. Woot!

What are you loving lately? Please tell me in the comments!

Have a great weekend!
