Friday Five: 5 Summertime Faves (So Far)

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Courtney at Eat, Pray, Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run. Each week they pick a theme and bloggers join in and link up. This year instead of specific themes, they are letting us be creative with broad themes for each week of the month. This is the a “favorites” themed week.

Before we turn around, summer will be over. It’s been a good one! Here are my 5 Summertime Favorite Experiences (So Far) in no particular order:

1. Fun and friends at The SF Marathon – I’m still smiling from the SF Marathon weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of my 1st marathon in 1996. It was so cool to have so many friends, old and new, who participated and/or supported this run. It may not have been my best run but it was one of my most memorable.

2. The Rio Olympics – I just love the Olympics! The Husband and I have been burning the midnight oil watching. I can’t count how many times I’ve cried. The performances are so inspiring. I’ve been loving the sportsmanship and camaraderie on display. I can’t wait to see my man Meb on Sunday in the Men’s marathon. I really loved the swimming this year and, of course, track and field!

Wow - so much summer fun!

3. Enjoying Chicago summer fun – After a super busy start, I’ve been around in Chicago a bunch. I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy a bunch of fun things in town. I’ve enjoyed the Green City Market, Taste of Chicago (and the Decemberists show and Road to Rio), a boat cruise with The Husband’s company, numerous happy hours and parties, fitness classes and lots of running fun. Chicago people love summer. I can’t help but smile thinking about it!

4. Fun with old friends – I had the opportunity to visit with some of my college friends/roommates in Miami. I also got to visit with college (and high school friends) in New York (almost summer in late May), Charlotte, San Francisco and Chicago. Twenty plus years later and our friendships are going strong.

5. Moving more with my Fitbit Blaze – I work from home so after working out, I can often be in one place all day. I got a Fitbit Blaze and the 250 steps per hour feature (and 7 Day Steps leaderboard) have got me moving more every day. I may be a wee bit obsessed but I love to find ways to be more active from 9 to 5. (Not sponsored – just motivated ;))

This summer has flown by and it’s been fun to remember some of the highlights! What are some of your summer faves so far?

Have a great weekend!
