Ultimate-Coffee-Date-Badge-e1416682466503Welcome to the 8th Ultimate Coffee Date link up of 2016. Can it really be August already?? More than half of the year is behind us. Wow! I‘m linking up again with Coco @ Running with Perseverance, Lynda @ Fitness Mom Wine Country, & Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner. What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup and “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

If we were having coffee… I would recall that last month, I was getting excited for the San Francisco Marathon. Now, it has come and gone. It was an amazing weekend, but my run was not all that I’d hoped for. Looking back, I think I was over trained. I’ve struggled with my pace and momentum in the last two months. I attributed it to the weather, but I think I may have pushed too hard for too long. That said, I’m going to take it easy this month and get a physical. It makes sense to rest AND to check – right?

Other than having a tough run, San Francisco was great. I had so many friends there running, cheering and enjoying the city. The race itself is beautiful and the pre and post events can’t be beat. They also had free photos which I LOVE! I will go back to tackle the SF Marathon again. Maybe on the 25th anniversary… who’s with me? (HERE is the full recap of the weekend and run if you missed it.)

If we were having coffee… I would insist on treating in honor of my dad. Yesterday would have been my dad’s 76th birthday. He was the most generous person I’ve ever met. I would also have told you some stories and tried to make you laugh – that was big, too.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask what your favorite things are about the Summer Olympics. I love gymnastics, track and field, marathon (of course – GO Meb!), swimming and diving. I’m also hoping that the things that are deficient in the Rio preparedness wind up being funny in retrospect like the toilets in Sochi. I would also remind you that our amazing friend Ivonne Mosquera-Schmidt is headed to the Paralympics for the 1500 meter run. I wouldn’t mention that I used to run with Ivonne, but now I would eat her dust… or maybe I would! What are your favorite Olympic events?

If we were having coffee… I would ask you if you’ve ever been to Cuba. The Husband and I are thinking of taking a trip there in the fall so we’re looking for tips, tricks and recommendations. It’s my understanding that you still need to use a tour operator to get visas/permissions, so we’re looking for one that’s a good fit. Have you been? Any recommendations?

That’s all I have for this month! What would you tell me over a cup? Leave some coffee talk in the comments!
