Tried it Tuesday: Moyer Farm Goat’s Milk Soap #Giveaway

I got an email from Doug Moyer asking if I wanted to check out his family’s goat’s milk soap. I checked out their Facebook page and loved the homegrown feel. Their slogan is “Don’t smell like a barn.” They make handmade soap with only 7 all natural ingredients, a variety of scents and super fun names. Of course, I said “yes.” They sent me four bars with four scents and stories. The Husband and I tested “Buckskin Breeze” and I cut it in half to share with Jen. I am planning to use “Nun Yo’ Beeswax.” I am going to giveaway the “Big John’s Oats and Honey” and “Frasier’s French Vanilla Latte” to two lucky readers.

Moyer Farm Soap

Moyer Farm Homemade Soap is a family run business that Doug runs with his two sons. They started making soap three years ago to “live a healthier life” at their Oak Harbor, Ohio farm. They recently opened an online store and sell eleven scents for $4 per bar. The seven ingredients are: Pure Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Goat’s Milk, Lye and Fragrance. Each one has a naming story on the back, too. Doug told me in his note that he tells women “they can throw out all of their expensive shampoo and just use our soap” and that he “tells guys, too, but they don’t care!”

The soap makes a great lather!
The soap makes a great lather!

I never thought about using soap as shampoo, but I figured I would give it a try. I cut a big piece of the Buckskin Breeze soap and took it into the shower for us to try. I gave the other half to Jen to try. The soap has a very fresh scent. The description on the website is “You will have a fresh clean summer smell all day long.” The fragrance is pretty strong, but I dig it! The soap makes a great lather as you can see. I loved how shiny my hair was and my skin did not feel as dry as with some other soaps. The Husband thought the scent was a bit feminine for him but he liked the lather, too. I think one of the other scents will be more up his alley. Jen said, “It has a nice, although unusual, smell.  I was surprised with how much lather the bar had. I’ve never tried washing my hair with bar soap, but I gave it a whirl and it seemed to do the job pretty well.  I also used a little on [her 2 1/2 year old] in her bath – a risky move, since she has sensitive skin. She didn’t have any reaction to it, so I would say it’s child/sensitive skin safe, too!  I didn’t really notice any big difference in my skin or hair after using it, but all in all, I had a good experience!

These two are up for grabs!
