Tried It Tuesday: truBrain Productivity Drink

ZTz5OnuZ_400x400Sometimes I get so busy that I feel like I can’t focus on any one thing. When I was offered the opportunity to try truBrain, “the world’s most tested productivity drink,” I could not say yes fast enough. truBrain has developed a line of products to help you “be present and productive”—using “proven ingredients which you can think of as superfoods for the brain.” They say you can drink it once a day to get all of the nutrients you need to “perform at your peak.” The drinks are designed to improve focus, mental endurance and verbal fluency. It has been tested with neurotech brainwave data.

Even the package looks smart 😉

What is truBrain? It is the first energy drink, designed by UCLA trained neuroscientists, to “give a boost to your brain.” The drinks (which are sized like small energy gel packets) contain active nootropics to improve genuine focus, concentration, and alertness. Nootropics (new` tro` picks) are a category of nutrients and compounds that improve cognitive function. The active ingredients are Oxiracetam + Piracetam (for focus), Caffeine + L-Theanine (for alertness and synergy) and Uridine + Centrophenoxine (for cognition and memory). They also contain nutrients like Magnesium + Tyrosine (for stress reduction and vigilance) and Carnitine + Citicoline (for neural energy and mood). The nutrients are said to help to reduce stress, retrieve memories, improve certain cognitive functions and maintain brain health.

Dr. Andrew Hill leads the team of truBrain neuroscientists. They’ve helped people from CEOs, hedge fund managers to artists to “achieve new levels of performance” by using advanced neurotech devices to measure their brainwaves data when they were deep in thought, managing stress, juggling distractions, and thinking on their feet.

The drinks are vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO and come in three flavors. The drinks are made with potent all-natural active amino acids and are flavored with all natural blue agave and monk fruit. They use all natural flavorings. Click HERE to find the nutritional information. The drinks come in three flavors: Original, Caffeine Free and Boost. Boost adds Uridine + Centrophenoxine for cognition and memory and has slightly more caffeine.

So, I bet you are wondering, “How does it taste and does it work?” truBrain sent me Original and Boost to try. They must read this blog and know that caffeine is my jam! I tried the Original for a week and the Boost for several days. I was most interested in the Magnesium and the nootropics. Both flavors are slightly medicinal but fairly pleasant tasting. I was wondering if it would be better in club soda but I just drank it from the pouch. They suggest adding it to smoothies or juices as an option, as well. I am not sure if there was some placebo effect, but I did feel more alert and sharp after drinking it. Even if it is a placebo, that is worth the money! They say that consistency is important as the effects grow over time. truBrain sent me a 30 day supply. I will continue to use it to see if I feel like it will continue to have an effect and will report back.

Want to try it? I truBrain will send two readers two Original and two Boost pouches from my stash each a 10 day trial pack!
