Friday Finds: 5 Easy and Inexpensive Ways to Give Back

It’s Friday, so I am linking up with Courtney at Eat, Pray, Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run for their weekly linkup. Each Friday, they host a link up — a “Friday Five.” This week in honor of the Produce Alliance and Limoneira’s social media campaign to fight childhood hunger, I am going off theme with “5 Easy and Inexpensive Ways to Give Back.”

CPCOTWoUkAA-XRx1. Participate in Produce Alliance and Limoneira‘s social media campaign to fight childhood hunger – #PAPuckerface. Say what? Today, Produce Alliance and Limoneira are combining their networks of over 20,000+ food industry partners to engage in the #PApuckerface social media challenge. Adults and children of all ages are encouraged to participate by biting into a lemon and taking a picture or video of their best “puckerface” to post on a social media site with the hashtag #PApuckerface. They are asking each individual to nominate 3 friends or family members to complete the #PApuckerface challenge to spread awareness of the fight against childhood hunger. You can see my #PApuckerface HERE on Instagram.

In addition to the #PApuckerface challenge, Produce Alliance will be collecting donations through the Produce Alliance Foundation to donate to various local/national organizations fighting childhood hunger.

However, de-cluttering and getting organized is always a good thing. I wrote a post on this in 2012. Clean up and gather up the goods and clothing you do not need and donate it to a local thrift shop or if you are in Chicago, check out Zealous Good. Zealous Good makes it easy for people to donate items by connecting them to local Chicago non-profits with matching needs. They’ll often even pick them up! It’s a win-win.
