Currently… A post on “things of the moment” for me (#9). [Inspired by Marcia and other bloggers.]

Currently… on Instagram

State of things: This year continues to fly by. It has not been particularly summery here – thus the title “Supposedly Summer Edition.” Yesterday’s long run was a sweat fest, so maybe we turned a corner. I feel like I got my work and blogging mojo back and that things are “under control.” The Husband and I are planning a few mini-vacays that I am excited about. One to see Rhys in Columbia. [Check out her Instagram and you will see why we are excited.] I still have a lot of balls in the air but I am feeling better about it. On the blog, I am excited about joining the Friday Five link up. It has been refreshing to link up with so many cool bloggers. I still find my deals… I need to find a place for those, too!

Books: I binge the rest of the of Catriona King mysteries. I read a mystery by Rachel Abbott, Summer Secrets by Jane Green, Dear Daughter by Elizabeth Little or book club (loved it – very implausible but clever and fun and ripe for a sequel) and all three Kent Haruf books (Plainsong, Eventide and Benediction – loved them – such beautifully written stories of regular lives.) We also met Jay Jennings after the Grandma’s Marathon and downloaded his book Carry the Rock. Have you read anything I should check out lately?

Movies: I saw Me, Earl and the Dying Girl. It was really terrific and thought provoking but not terribly uplifting. I recommend it! Have you seen anything good lately?

TV: Other than my Today Show treadmill obsession, I am not much for watching TV. We watched a few seasons of The Americans and now are watching the third season of Orange is the New Black. I wasn’t digging Orange at first but we are on episode number 7 and I am enjoying it.  What is on your TV dance card these days?

podcasts

Website/Podcast: I loved the wrap up of season 2 or Start Up. I loved the third episode of Gimlet Media’s new The Mystery Show called “The Belt Buckle” which was surprisingly touching and captivating. I mentioned the anniversary special from Death, Sex and Money a few weeks ago. Since this was the first anniversary, they asked people to call in to say where they were a year ago and what had changed for them. I love this idea. On Friday, One year ago at this time, I was looking for a new job. I almost took a job that was not the one I was later offered and started soon after. I was working freelance, blogging and running. I was also convinced to run an ultra marathon (something that I said I would NEVER do). So, never say never! I would then ask you, what were you doing last year at this time?

Q2 Running Collage

Run: Since last time I wrote this post, I ran the Brooklyn 1/2 on May 16th (decided to go because a dear friend is running her first half ever!), the Ridge Run 10K (and 5K skipped the 5K), Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, MN on 6/20 and the Bastille Day 5K on 7/9. I had a blast in Brooklyn and loved being with Emily after her first half marathon, suffered in the humidity at the Ridge Run, loved Grandma’s despite the soaking rain (recap HERE) and had an unexpected near win at the Bastille Day 5K. Here is my Q2 Running Recap if you are interested. Next up Chicago RnR 1/2 on 7/18 (Thank you, Humana and Fitfluential!), Esprit de She 5K on 7/23, Big10 5K on 7/25 and I am not sure what in August! Plus, NYC Marathon training starts on 7/17. Who is running and where?

Non-Run Workouts: Not much new! I have been keeping up with the “Smart Workouts” on the J & J 7 Minute Workout and weekly pilates and yoga. Still wearing my Fitbit and still a bit obsessed with getting my steps. Have you tried anything new?
