Peanut Butter & Co #CandyCaneHacks Recipes + #Giveaway!

If you read this blog, you know I LOVE peanut butter (especially from Finds’ Fave Peanut Butter & Co) and that I am NOT a food blogger. That said, I was beyond delighted when Adam from PB & Co got in touch to invite me to be a part of their Yum Squad – a new ambassador group. Do I want to get access to new goodies and giveaways from one of my favorite companies? Hell, yes! It is good for me and it is good for you all, too! I get to test and giveaway delicious goodies from PB & Co all year long. Yay! I tested the Dark Chocolate Dreams and the 31 Days of Dark Chocolate Dreams Cookbook, then helped to create some “Peanut Butter Buzz” with The Bee’s Knees and then hosted a Back to School PB & J update. And now… #CandyCaneHacks.

What is a candy cane “hack”? Well, candy canes are a holiday treat that people love but virtually no one knows what to do with. PB & Co called this holiday-themed assignment #CandyCaneHacks. If you’re not familiar with the term “hack” or “life hack”, Wikipedia defines it as “anything that solves an everyday problem (in this scenario, an excess of candy canes) in an inspired, ingenious manner.” Each blogger was asked to develop two peanut butter recipes with candy canes included so you would have a better idea of what to do with them this year. I picked a dessert and decided to make Dark Chocolate Dreams fudge with candy cane topping. I also picked savory. I thought it would be fun to make something with The Heat is On spicy peanut butter and candy canes. I could not actually come up with anything, but luckily, I was able to call in the big guns! My brother, caterer Laurence Craig, came up with “Spicy Peanut Butter Bacon.”

Yum! My brother is a genius, no? It is kind of like a bacon satay with a twist.

I got the easy assignment and adapted the “Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge Recipe Ever” from Parade’s Community Table. I used my Dark Chocolate Dreams and candy canes in fudge for a cookie exchange. It was very tasty. Next time I make it, I may add a bit of a thickening agent or oil to the recipe as it was a bit dry compared to other fudge that I made with this recipe that was made with a more oily peanut butter. It tasted great but was hard to cut! I also am wondering what a fudge with The Heat is On would taste like and if it would be spicy sweet and delicious or kind of terrible. This recipe is so simple, I may try it and let you know!
