Tried It Tuesday: RnR Chicago Half Marathon Expo Finds

logo-rnrn-chi13I worked the Rock n Roll Chicago 1/2 Marathon Expo with my fave brand CEP CompressionWhile I was there, I had the opportunity to chat with a bunch of my other faves like Purefit Bars, Nuun, GU, Handana and Swiftwick. I also had the opportunity to meet a bunch of new faves, too. Since then, I have connected with Apera Bags, Outdoor Tech and RacePak.

I am going to tell you a bit about these cool companies and the products I tried and preview some great giveaways, too.

apera_twitter_400x400At the expo, I checked out an awesome line of bags from Apera and learned about them from Stacy who runs their marketing efforts. In case you missed it, I reviewed my Apera Bags Tech Pack this weekend. I also am hosting a giveaway for one of their Sprint Packs and a 25% off coupon for any bag, click HERE to see my review and enter.

Apera bags are really high quality and the company has a mission to make bags healthier. Apera bags are designed to be healthier – with built-in antimicrobial product protection to inhibit the growth of bacterial odors, separation of your wet, sweaty gear from your dry stuff, and venting air to keep your bag dry and suppress odor. Apera bags also feature intelligently designed wet, dry and tech storage areas within each bag to provide an easy keep items clean and organized. There are separate vented compartments with wipeable linings and a huge interior storage area with light colored lining to help you find your gear.

Check out my giveaway. In the mean time, if you want a chance to win a bag like mine, or one of their other cool styles, from Apera, they hold a giveaway each month on their website!  Up for grabs this month is a free Apera bag – winner’s choice, any style and color!  Just sign up for their email newsletter. outdoor tech

I tested out some wireless headphones at the expo and chatted with the rep from  Outdoor Tech.  She was super helpful. I checked out their website and learned about this quirky company. Outdoor Tech makes wireless bluetooth earbuds that are meant for an active lifestyle, wireless speakers, other headphones, portable power packs and active apparel.

Orcas Wireless Earbuds!

I contacted them and they sent me a pair of Orcas – Wireless Earbuds. They say, “These are the Orcas, our new sweat resistant, light weight, active fit, hi-fi and overall badder-asser Bluetooth, wireless earbuds. The Orcas wirelessly connect with your phone, or any other Bluetooth-enabled device.” I tested these on the run, at the gym and for work. I will provide a full report soon, but so far, they are pretty awesome! I love how far I can get from my phone or PC with these.

They also sent me two Yowies to giveaway. What is a Yowie? It is a super soft and stretchy tube made of wicking polyester. It is designed to perform a variety of functions. You can use it as a facemask, beanie, headband, neck scarf, wrist band, scrunchie or create your own use. Not to bring up winter, but the Yowie won’t freeze up! The material is super breathable. You can use it in warm weather, too, to wick sweat. They come in awesome patterns, too. They sent me two one in a patter and one in pink with their awesome logo.

So stop back soon for my Orcas Wireless Earbud review and Yowie giveaway! In the meantime, you can follow Outdoor Tech on Facebook and Twitter.
