I love nuts – the food kind. My faves are almonds, cashews and pistachios. The last few years, I have been enjoying all of the awesome flavors and tastes that my faves Olomomo and Lush Gourmet Foods have come up with. I had the good luck of trying the Gilded Nut Snack Co’s pistachios a few times and they are delicious. I wrote to them and they kindly sent me some additional flavors to try AND a full set of flavors to give away.
The Gilded Nut Snack Co. makes pistachios in small batches with jumbo size U.S. Extra #1 pistachios from California, first cold pressed extra virgin olive oil and pure herbs and spices from small producers. Pistachios are naturally cholesterol free, heart-healthy and rich in protein and fiber. These snacks are GMO Free, gluten free, dairy free and soy free. They never use preservatives, flavor additives, food colorings, binding agents or added sugar. They “only all natural ingredients that you would find in your pantry.”
The founder of the company created these awesome, healthy treats after deciding that plain pistachios were just plain “boring.” He added olive oil and spices and became a hit at parties and with his friends. He says, “My friends and family devoured them. They became [his] contribution for cocktail parties, boat trips, holiday gatherings, sporting events, and movie nights at home.” The original flavor contains a proprietary blend of whole herbs and spices including garlic, oregano, smoked paprika, parsley, turmeric, onion, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cumin and sea salt.
The nuts come in four flavors: #1 Original, #2 Mediterranean Herb, #3 Habanero Heat and #4 Sea Salt + Pepper:
- Original has a savory, garlicky flavor
- Mediterranean Herb has a variety of green herbs and no pepper
- Habanero Heat is spicy. It is “the Original blend on fire.”
- Sea Salt + Pepper is a new take on a simple flavor.
It is hard to pick a favorite, but I would choose the Sea Salt + Pepper or Mediterranean Herb first if I had all four to choose from. I took some of these to a movie in the park and they paired well with white wine and a picnic! The husband liked the Mediterranean Herb a lot, too. The nuts are very fresh and tasty. I find the seasoning on the Salt + Pepper to be light but definitely enough to (literally) spice them up. The Habanero Heat are yummy, but they do indeed light your mouth on fire so pair with beer or something cooling. I shared the Original at a picnic and they were a hit, too. All good!
