Friday Finds: #FightObesity, eMeals to the Rescue + More!

live exerciseThrough Girls Gone Sporty, I learned about LiveExercise’s Launchpad project. LiveExercise is an online health and fitness community dedicated to making healthy living affordable, approachable, and accessible for all body types, ages, income levels, and locations. Now they want to “open their doors” to fight one of the biggest health issues we all face as a society: Obesity. I supported their IndieGoGo project.

Launchpad's Three Pillars of Support
Launchpad’s Three Pillars of Support

They say:

“Obesity and poverty are closely linked, low-income families often cannot afford expensive gyms and fresh foods. In addition, very few wellness programs are modified for obesity, and practically none address the underlying emotional triggers that can lead to relapse.

Despite these issues, many people still think overcoming obesity is a simple case of eating less and exercising more, but that’s only a small part of the problem. Poverty, surroundings, lack of information, and mental health issues such as anxiety, addiction and depression are all contributing factors.

But what if there was a free daily health program to help low-income families especially those struggling with obesity? Not just random tips and information, but true step-by-step guidance and support covering exercise, nutrition and mental health.

We believe everyone should have access to preventative healthcare regardless of income, location or body-type. So we’ve assembled an all-star team of experts, including Doctors, Scientists, Personal Trainers, Nutritionists and Psychologists who will be tackling these issues head-on. Together they will create a program of knowledge and support that will empower people to change their lives for the better.

The Launchpad Project is not just a weight-loss program, it’s a healthy lifestyle movement – that everyone can benefit from! With your help we can offer The Launchpad Project for free and make it accessible to everyone, regardless of location or income. So please, donate today, any amount helps and every dollar raised will go towards this worthy cause.”

emealsA few months ago I was asked to check out eMeals. eMeals is an online site that delivers meal plans each week via email based on the dietary instructions and family size you specify. A few years ago, two sisters who are also moms, decided to start a company to help people get organized when it comes to planning healthy, satisfying meals at home. Working with a talented team of professional meal planners, experienced home cooks and technical gurus, they developed eMeals to “feed their families and preserve their sanity.”

SAVE TIME AND MONEY WITH EMEALS MEAL PLANSHere’s How It Works:
1. Pick Your Plan – To start getting eMeals, choose a meal plan based on your eating style, your family size and even your favorite grocery store (for coupons and sales!) See Meal Plans.

2. Get Great Recipes – Every week, your meal plan arrives in your inbox — complete with seven simple, creative, family–friendly dinner recipes. Each includes an entrée and side dishes. See Example Recipes.

3. Shop and Save – Along with the meal plan, you’ll get a detailed grocery list organized by section and coordinated with the weekly sales at selected stores. See Example Shopping List.

4. Cook and Enjoy – eMeals takes care of the meal planning, the grocery list and the budgeting, so you can get credit for making healthy, home–cooked meals that your whole family will love.

Every week you get a shopping list, coupons and awesome recipes that you can schedule based on your time/needs.

eMeals saves you time, effort and money by helping you to organize your meals with your family’s unique needs in mind. Pretty awesome! eMeals is $58 for a year membership (best value) or $48 for 6 months or $30 for 3 months. Use this link for 15% off! You can try it for 2 weeks and cancel if you are not satisfied.

Please note: I was not compensated for this post, but I did receive a free trial of eMeals to share this information. All opinions are my own.
